New guy, first post
I just signed up for the site and figured I better do the obligatory introduction. My son drove home his first Miata, a 1990, in April or so of 2014. I asked him what he was going to do with it, since he had a decent daily driver. He said he was going to "race it". I thought he was soft in the head. Fast forward to now. I became enlightened to solo autocross and to the fun and potential of Miatas specifically. I now own a '99 and my son has moved on to a 1994 in much better condition, and with fewer miles, than his first one. I am slowly transitioning from racing motorcycles (flattrack) into the autocross realm. I work on motorcycles extensively and like the Miata platform because it's easy to work on, with a motor I understand (DOHC, etc.). Though I like working on the cars, I am content to remain mostly stock and stay in "E Street". My son is currently racing STS and is intent on modifying his car extensively. We just bought some first tidbits (Megasquirt, A/F meter, netbook for tuning) to start along that journey. We live in the Northeast US so we have all winter to work on cars. I am here to learn, learn, learn. Who knows? Maybe I'll be able to contribute something along the way!
