NC Newbie! Yay! Automatic! ...yay? Ugh.
Hello all! I just signed up a couple of days ago and already my first post was to buy something in the For Sale section. Geeze, but anyway, My car is a 94 Automatic. *cringe* Yeah, automatic. A sad tale of a car I bought at a steal in amazing condition and already I'm turbocharging it with 80% parts I already own. I have to say, this being my first Miata, I can see how these things are wickedly addictive! I've always been a Mazda man as I've always been a Rotary man but I'm most def diggin' the little Mazda twin cams. Anyway, I will post pics and progress of my Turbo project...probably once it's done. As it is in it's current NA state, here it is. Clean at least. I love fancy engine bays more than body kits and wheels. Haha. Rest assured the turbo version of this engine bay will be just as clean. Really need to pain those wiper arms, though. =] Can't wait to meet some new people here!

13B Turbo with BNR Stage one bolt on turbo upgrade. Half bridge on intake and heavy street port on exhaust. No fancy internals aside from the Atkins Rotary 3rd gen corner seals and such. The core is already built and just sitting in the shop. I have a 91 T2 trans as well. Haven't done much research on the mating of these to the Miata but probably just as many of these done as Ford 5.0 or Chevrolet LS-?
That's the plan anyway. I have another finished six port engine lying here as well. I planned to put it into my 90 NA RX7 but someone gave me a good deal on the car engineless for...an LS-1 swap so I never slapped it back in. Most likely I'll sell this engine since putting it in the Miata after having a turbo 1.8; well, it's not likely to pull as hard. Equal at best I guess. Of course you can turbo the six port too and make 300 crank HP but a little loss of reliability versus the Turbo engine's low compression. Lots of options.
I don't see me likely doing this soon because one, I don't have a lot of money on hand right now. And two, there's only 87,000 miles on the Miata's engine so it'll probably be a while before any of this becomes a necessary event. ...I hope. >_> If I get a year out of this car, I'll be more than happy!

Sounds like a decent setup for the engine. I would suggest looking into the V8 Roadsters 'blank' subframe to build a setup for mounting the engine and such. Also getting ahold of a GSL-SE or 12A front cover for the engine. Will simplify the install and allow you to mount it as far back as possible. I have been looking into it myself. Keep us updated on progress as things come along...
