Late intro from Gainesville, FL
Hello all, I've been browsing the forum for awhile now. I'm a 25 yr. old barber in Gainesville. Father of two, one is 2 1/2 the other is in transit. Due to be here in late Feburary. My name is James, my wife is Lyssa, and the boys are Cayce and Charles the soon to be.
What brings me to the forum is my 97 Miata, red with the tan interior. I've had it for about 3 years now. All of my mods are on the cheap, from the HP 1" lowering springs and Tokico struts to the Vortech FMU fueling the BEGI-SSM non-intercooled turbo kit.
The car also has 3" exhaust, ACT prolite flywheel, Nology plug wires, Walbro 255lph fuel pump, 315cc supra injectors, MSD timing box, O2 clamp, external water spray(radiator and pre-TB pipe) along with the Devil's Own dual nozzle injection kit. So the orginal non-intercooled BEGi kit is now chemically intercooled.
Yes, my intro is a bit late. Yes, I apologize for my failure to acknowlege the wisdom of the great ECU guru's. Stock ECU + band aids = Garbage.
As I've decided to give in on the band-aids and move on to a MegaSquirt(I was trying to hold out for the AEM stand alone).
Which prompts my introduction. I feel I should introduce myself, as I'll most likely be needing the help of experienced members with their MS tuning knowledge.
I would like to provide pics, but I don't have time at the moment, so I'll be sure to post some over the weekend when I have more time. With the holiday coming up I will have some, I hope...
Until then,
Just another

Okay, I went in to work today but it was slow, as would be expected after the holiday. I kind of rushed this together because I had other things to tend to, but I figured this would be the only time this weekend I would have time to put this together and publish it. Please keep in mind I'm a noob to the web design world as well, but I invite anyone who wishes to see pics to our website where I have a section set aside for this car. It was not intended to be put online until much later, so only the pictures are available.
Bob's Barbershop - Home Page
Just click the car on the home page. The whole thing is a work in progress, so if you browse any other part of the site, you may cross a broken link or some of my poor grammar/spelling

hey bro, life is good. Still no MSPNP but otherwise all is well. I have a new 3" exhaust I'm waiting to put on, and my FMU is needing a rebuild kit.
Just had the new baby boy however, so these things are waiting for awhile lol. He was born on the 17th, 9lb healthy boy.
So are you not working at harbor freight anymore?
Whats the story on your car? Ever get your exhaust done? How'd the DIY MS go? Was that a pain to put together?

I quit a while ago. Didn't want a job anymore to focus on school and they offered me 900 in benefits.
I built the ecu and it failed so I got one built by braineack. I still fixed the first one. I might keep one for my dad or sell it.
Still running the open downpipe until my friend gets a new welder. So for now I'm going for the 11" brake upgrade, cops, coolant reroute, and a radiator. Hopefully all for under 400. Oh and I'm trying to learn this tuning thing .
See you around man!

Nice man, glad you got the DIY fixed, what is your dad building that would put it to use? If you get interested in selling it, feel free to drop by the shop and chit chat about it. I'm looking for something at the moment, just not sure what I'll end up with.
Where is this 11" rotor upgrade that is going to fit in that budget? I want one lol
My Tokico's are blue... is that bad? lol they came together with 1" lowering springs.

If I find a NB shell for a good price we'll drop in our 99 motor.
I'll see about the ECU. Put it on my car for a few weeks to make sure its proper.
