introduction and questions
Hey guys. I still haven't bought a miata but that will happen as soon as I sell my Audi.
I always owned some toys. My first car was a dodge stealth and soon after that I bought a 3000gt vr4. right now I'm driving an Audi A6 avant quattro and I'm craving a fun little car.
Last time I was in the US I testdrove a S2000 and fell in love with the concept of small and agile instead of heavy and bulky.
I've tested some miatas and like it a lot. But like many I'd like a little more Ooomph. First thought was a LS1 miata but getting an engine over here can get expensive fast. So I'd rather just turbo it. I'm almost dead set on the 1.8 for my project but if you have any arguments against it I'd love to hear them.
how much of a difference is cabin noise with a hard top over rag top?
And just a little of my car history.
Stealth, I bought it to restore it and had NO experience with cars before that. The 2 years I had i I learned a lot and don't regret buying it even if it was just the Dohc fwd.
This is what it looked like when I got it.
And here it is just before I sold it.
Here's the VR4 when I got it. It had a stripped input spool in the transfer case. I replaced that in one evening though and car was ready to hit the streets. I got it for cheap but it had sat outside for 9 months so the red paint was in poor shape.
But I took it for a good day of pampering and it paid off.
I then had a 2.0L turbo diesel vitara that was one of the most fun cars I've owned, mostly because I didn't give a ---- about it and it ended up in many many many adventures.

and then there's the Audi. A 2003 3.0 V6 avant quattro fully loaded.
And hopefully a tasty looking miata, with about 10-12psi of boost and streetable coilover setup. I may strip the interior and clean it up if there are any actual weight benefits in the interior.
