Default Inevitable conclusion: Need turbo in car.

I bought my first Miata (well, MX-5 over here) in April this year. A 1997 Twilight Blue 1.8 NA. Having done what was needed to the brakes, suspension and tires (as well as non-speed-related stuff like roll bar, new top and vinyl stripes) and taken it to a couple trackdays, I have come to the inevitable conclusion that I need more power. Turbo seems the best way to do it, and about 180 whp to start out with would make me happy.

Since I live in Stockholm, Sweden and it gets rather cold and miserable here in winter, I have parked it until next spring, and will have to make do with a Volvo until then. Just been planning and researching how to turbo a Miata, and I want to do it in slow and incremental, mostly reversible steps. First I'll be going for a new ECU + wideband O2 and then lots of other smaller stuff and some test driving next spring before even getting to the actual turbo stuff. Trying to figure out which Megasquirt (or something) to get for greatest expandability.

Have worked on turbo cars before (including doing ECU swaps), but never done an actual turbo conversion and I'm pretty new to the Miata. Excited, but trying to pace myself to go slow and steady with it.
