Howdy! Finally checking in after 3+ years of lurking.
Well, I guess I need to get some post counts up to be un-noob'd around here. Been using the forum for searches and whatnot for the past several years and as such never really needed to post. So much useful information out there most of the stuff has already been answered. That and I just don't have the time to hang out online much any more. Life seems to get much more in the way the older you get...
I guess a little about my self and my miata is in order.
I picked up a 96 miata from a buddy who said it just needed new valves (first mistake of many) back in 2010 and decided to build a track toy out of it. Little did I know that he was running 30+psi of boost on a 2860 and stock motor and blew the side skirts off two of the pistons and a few chunks from inside the block. Of course I didn't have time to get that deep into it for several months and couldn't go back on it when I found out. So for the next year or so in my spare time I pieced together the parts (carrillo rods, 01 block, 99 head, mazda speed pistons/rings/cams, begi ic, etc) and build up a new block to stick in it.
Long story short, the motor was finally done at the end of 2012 and I just haven't had time to mess with it since. Currently putting down 200hp to the wheels with a mspnp gen1 and is a blast to drive when I have the time. Not the best daily due to the 100 mile a day commute, but life has gotten in the way as well and it's time to move on.
Just need to get the post count up so one of you wonderful young guys can finish what I started.
I guess this is a hello and goodbye (for now) post until I get the urge again to build up a miata. Next go round it will be the LS route though. Turbos are great and all, but the LS is so much fun on track in a miata.
