Default Hey (TX)

Hey, new NB owner from Texas. I just picked up a 1999 in red a couple months ago with 168k. Car was unmolested. (aside from some dumb, poorly wired fog lights and deer whistles...) So far i've been focused on getting all of the maintenance done and just generally going through the car and getting it to a good starting point to start modifying. So far ; fluids, brakes & rotors, bs wire removal, headlight restoration, plasti dip for the wheels, timing belt & accessory belts, valve cover and front seals, new water pump. Next is the rear can seal, clutch and rear main seal.

12 years ago I took a few EFIU courses (101 and Advanced if they still exist) in pursuit of learning to dyno tune. Needless to say I took a different career path and got away from cars for a few years. I guess we'll see what good it does me, if any.

My prior project was a 240sx that ultimately produced 539whp. Unlike that one, I really don't want to fall off the deep end with this project. The miata for me is going to be about the enjoyment of restoring it and just getting my hands into another turbo project. Being 30 years old now i've made a lot of mistakes on prior projects and my last one was nothing shy of a black hole of bad luck.

I have my engine modification route planned; the majority of it is here(small goals... maybe 220-250whp) for the most part -- FMII custom spec with no electronics and injectors + MS2E and 550cc injectors. have a few progress pics I'll try and post a bit later. Anyway, I've lurked on here for some time, figured it was time to say hello. I'll post some pics when more interesting things start happening.

Welcome to the forum. It looks like you have done some reading and have formed a plan.

I would recommend newer ev14 style injectors in whatever sizing you prefer.

Thank you. From everything I've seen the ev14 types perform better, especially at idle and what not. Unfortunately the ones I picked up were one of these deals I couldn't pass up on at the time. My rev-built MS2E just arrived. Once I get the injectors, ms and clutch in I'll finally get to get oriented with it. Also looks like I will need to get back into it this week for the rear CAS-delete cap that apparently leaks quite often in NBs.

I am north. I hear nothing but great things about those. Unfortunately both of those items I already have. I think it'll probably be some time before I have everything together to start putting together turbo bits. I definitely want to get the ECU and clutch in next. Currently I'm hunting down a clutch. Most likely I'm probably just gonna go new and get the FM1.

Can't go wrong with the FM1 happy meal

I use to live off of parmer, but now I'm in Pville off of grand ave.

I know 'most' of north atx like the back of my hand.

Nice. Could just be my years away from tinkering with cars but I don't see many modified Miatas around here.

Sadly, there is a lot of stance bros out in public.

My guess with miatas in the area is that most of them are kept in the garage, track prepped and head down to harris hill on weekends.
