Hey everyone! Glad to have joined the community! (Quite a few pics!)
For starters, my name is Jacob and I've wanted a miata for about 7 years now. I picked up my NB1 (1999) in October 2022 with 235k miles, salvage title, missing rear window on the soft top, missing bell housing bolts (if you can't tell, this is a project), and so on. I'm EXTREMELY excited to wrench on this car, I've already did some maintenance:
new latches
new strikers
new radiator/hoses
air freshener (interior is stinky due to missing rear window)
spark plugs
air filter
Changing the radiator out was the first time I've ever done a job like that. Most extensive labor I've done on my cars has been mostly bolt ons to my 2018 wrx.
Anyways, I know you would love to see pics and less text so here you go: The day I got her :')
First fill up! (Such a pleasant change to fill up 87 on the miata vs Shell 91 for my WRX).
Probably my favorite pic of the NB.
Air filter difference.... You should've seen the spark plugs lol.
The engine bay before any modifications.
First radiator job I've done myself (very messy whoops). Aside from *minor* alterations, super happy overall.
Second pic, diff angle.
For funsies, tossed in the Zeta III I have for my WRX (on wrx rails so it sits high in this pic).
Look at how ridiculous it looks, I love it.
First commute to work! It did very well aside from NVH due to missing rear window.
Fitting in tiny spots is the specialty.
Second commute to work and thought it was funny parking next to a good ol American SUV.
These pics look huge, sorry if that's annoying
I'll end it here with my goals for the car:
300+ whp boosted
Track oriented but streetable
work done mostly myself except for machine shop work
I've lurked for a long time, as I slowly get the car up to speed with maintenance I am deep diving into old forums for first steps to reaching my goals. If anyone is around the Santa Cruz area (California), I'd love to catch some meets if I have the time. Would love to see your builds!
