I'm baaaaaack!
I bought another Miata Saturday. It's a '92 Black&Tan just like my first one...even still has the awesome lightweight BBS forged wheels.
For the past few years I've just been working. Sold all the bikes and the Miata, paid off student loans, then sold our tiny starter house and rented while wife and I saved up for her dream house. Said house came with a 3-car garage which is awesome. My project bay currently has an MGB-GT shell in it which I've been doing bodywork on while rebuilding a Camaro 3.1L motor with 3100 aluminum head swap. It's going slowly, and I decided I wanted a "driveable" project since I don't want to rush this build.
Found a $1200 Miata Friday night that was in excellent mechanical shape. I was the first one out there Saturday morning (sorry rharris if you were his 9am showing...lol), and paid him without talking him down since it was a fair deal on an honest car. Came with a big folder full of receipts, including the timing belt change.
I considered keeping it stock and focusing on suspension and cosmetics, but shuiend has pretty well convinced me I should repurpose the MS3 Braineack is currently building for my MGB, and put it in the Miata instead. That 3.1L is still on the stand, and I can MegaSquirt the Miata now and start laying down the base work (injectors, clutch) for another turbo setup while waiting on the MKturbo 1.6L kits to come out.
Anyhow, I hope to check in from time to time and start a build thread once the project is rolling.
It's good to be back...

Nah....I'd still log in and occasionally ban someone or nuke some classifieds posts. Just didn't have anything to post about and didn't lurk much since no Miata made me sad.
It's good to see some familiar faces.
I have noticed more Miata drift cars locally. ..and turbo Miatas seem to be more abundant on CL. I almost bought a bandaid turbo Miata instead of the one I did....but it had some issues and was too far away. Didn't want to limp it that far. Plus a clean slate is always nice...

Clean slate definitely.
NA track broz builds are the thing.
Brotrex is making a comeback. Or trying to become truly viable for the first time, depending on how you look at it.
Honduh powah is a new big thing.
And EFR's have made all other turbos look weak and inadequate.
Build away! Welcome back.

Got a pic....like I said. ..Identical to our old one. Will post more once I clean up and go over. Trying to decide which way I'm going with suspension. Just looking for something comfortable and cheap.
