de-noobing myself
I have been lurking around for a while now and have gotten a metric ton of knowledge but decided I should finally introduce myself!
so my story starts with my first Miata, I bought it about a year ago. she was red with a blue hardtop and the engine had just been rebuilt.when I met up with the guy to take a look at it I brought a bore scope with me to make sure everything checked up and sure enough I could see the hone marks still in the cylinder walls and the pistons looked brand new so I went ahead and bought it from him. So I drove it on the weekends and a few days out of the week to work. A few months went by and I hadn't been able to take the car out and really see what it had so me and a few buddies got together for some "spirited" mountain road driving. I was amazed at how well it handled compared to the rx7's and such that I was used to ripping around in. This is where the story gets sad, I was on a pretty good straight about 150 yards or so with a slight bend coming up so I rev it out pretty hard and up shift get to about 5500rpm and go to put the clutch in to start slowing down for the bend and the clutch just goes straight to the floor I try and pump it a bit but I get nothing. At this point my only option was to try and man handle her through the bend which is where I lost traction and clipped a telephone pole taking out my right front fender and bending both right front control arms, the car got spun around and hit a parked car with the left rear quarter panel. The rear impact smashed the quarter and tweaked the rear of the car up on the left side about 2 inches. After weighing all of my options it looked like a shell was the best route to take, so I picked up a 93 shell locally for a fair price and swapped everything over from the 97 got it running and driving and then it spun a rod bearing on the highway. Pulled the engine back out rebuilt the bottom end and buttoned it back up. So this is where my project sits now, have the engine rebuilt and back together on an engine stand waiting to go back in the car have a huge laundry list of turbo parts all sitting in boxes next to the car just waiting on a few more tidbits to have everything (down pipe, oil and water lines, and megasquirt) and waiting for new flywheel to arrive.
so if you have stuck around and read this whole thing my name is Tyler and that is my Miata story so far!

In the heat of the moment locking up the rear end from stalling the engine didn't seem like such a good idea.
parts list so far:
Garrett gt25
rx8 yellow top injectors
mishimoto 3row radiator
tacotaco log manifold
Tial knock off wastegate
HKS knock off bov
cx racing intercooler and piping
AEM wideband
tein street advance z coilover
15x9 0 offset jnc wheels
Things I still need:
90 degree down pipe
Megasquirt
oil and water lines
feel free to chime in on anything else you may think that I need. I know some of the parts on my list are cheap but this is a super budget build that I will upgrade down the road. So far I am only $900 in on turbo parts.
