Default Colorado Climber

Greetings from Colorado!

Typical Miataturbo lurker here - learning from everyone else's mistakes. So I figured I'd share my (mistakes) to help out!

Bought a 2004 MSM about a year ago. My journey began right away with a bottom end rebuild to address rod knock. Not a good start. But not even close to where I've landed.

I'm an electrical engineer at an aerospace company putting men on mars. So I jumped right into wiring in an MS3PRO and tuning. I took the Miazda over to a local tuning shop to find out what I was making - 220 ft/lbs, 200hp. Need more.

So I bought a 2560 off a gentleman on here and went for a full FM manifold/dp/etc kit. Now pushing 15psi vs the stock 8psi.. Took it to the track (high plains raceway) and pushed so much air past my rings that I was spitting oil out of every orifice (PCV puking). Oil puked out of the BOV, the EBC, filled my poor wastegate actuator, oil pooled in the bottom of the intercooler. ugh.

So now I've got the entire kit apart in a million pieces in the garage. I'm going full build (forged) and seriously considering selling my 2560 kit and moving on to TSE 6758 insanity..

Current: 6-speed MSM tranny. stage1 FM clutch kit. MS3PRO. DW 550cc injectors. 2.5" exhaust. 2560.
Next: Bought a VVT engine (from another guy on here) and am in the process of rebuilding it. Anyone want to buy an 2004 MSM engine?

I don't have a cat. I hate cats.

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like a cool build.

I too live on the wild side and don't have a cat

Welcome, I am up in Erie, and am an EE as well. Are you a member of peak to peak?

My car has been on the quickjack for over a year now, so I don't attend any of the functions these days, but they get out and do Miata stuff regularly.

Welcome! Can’t wait to see what the blue motor will do in its new home! Ironically, I have a smurf blue NA with a red MSM valve cover.

Ted - I'm not a member (yet). I'm on the email list and am familiar with at least 2 of the members. I'll get involved when my car is actually running...
