Been lurking since I purchased my car last year, finally starting to post
Hello everyone, my name is William.
I purchased my very first Miata in March of 2021. It was a completely stock 2000 base model silver NB Miata (with the exception of a hot air intake). I plan to start a build thread in the near future covering everything I've done since then. A TLDR would be: preventative maintenance, reliability/cooling/safety mods, basic bolt ons with a Megasquirt, a yellow wrap, and tons of driving. My day job is software development so getting away from a computer and wrenching or driving is a good way to spend my free time.
When I got the car I didn't really have any particular plans (people do everything with Miatas). I ended up turning it into a reliable track car that I can drive on the street when I want to as well, this is a result of getting hooked after my first track day towards the end of last year. I'm located in Lincoln, NE so the tracks close to me are Raceway Park of the Midlands (1 hour), Motorsports Park Hastings (2 hours), and Heartland Motorsports Park (3 hours). Being in Lincoln also means I'm only 20 minutes away from the Lincoln Air Park autocross site that currently hosts Solo Nationals which is cool.
My car isn't boosted at the moment, but I've found the Miata Turbo forum to be very valuable for all things related to performance Miatas so I've been lurking on here ever since I got my car. I thought I'd finally make an introduction post. Boost or an engine swap are probably in my future at some point, but I'm enjoying slow car fast for the time being.
Here are some pics (starting with how I got the car in silver):
Car I purchased. I ended up purchasing a hardtop, but don't use it a whole lot, I really like the top down experience. Heartland Motorsports Park this year. More vents. Side shot.
Car looks great, really love the bright yellow.
Nice job on doing the wrap yourself. I can't even apply large stickers without lots of bubbles & frustration.
