Been lurking for awhile
Hey everyone, I'm collin. I've been lurking the forum for the last year and a half or so but I am now starting to become more active here. Only have my phone to post on here but hoping to get a computer in the next few months or so.
Well here is a little bit about myself! I grew up around motorcycles and muscle cars. I was absolutely set on my first car being a smokey and the bandit style trans am. Eventually my parents gave it to me flat out and said there's no way I'm having a rear wheel drive v8 as my first car. That turned into multiple lectures about responsibility and all that good stuff. They were set on me getting a civic.
Me and my buddy were joking around about how I should get a miata. Knowing nothing about these cars and thinking 4 bangers were lame I didn't think it would actually happen! Ended up talking my parents into letting me get one instead of a civic (haha). Who would have known I'd go from diehard American muscle fan to diehard jdm fan.
The miata has opened me up to many new things in the car community that I had no idea exhisted.
Fast forward to a few months. I let my buddy (diehard muscle car fan now diehard jdm fan haha) drive my miata on some twisty back roads. He ended up buying one in the next few weeks. Sadly he owned the car for 26 hours...
We decided to go on a drive. Him not knowing the limits of his car or the road he was on, he wrecked it... bad. He lost traction on a turn and hit a tree then rolled three times. Thankfully him and his passenger were fine (still wondering how to this day). I hate to say it but sometimes it takes things like this to realize that accidents really do happen. And that's when the modding started...
A week after watching my friend flip his miata, I found a guy selling a roll bar on Craigslist.
My buddy that flipped his miata decided he wanted a second miata the day after the accident. Before he even got the second car he purchased a roll bar (haha).
I have learned so much and have made so many friends since purchasing this car. I am constantly thinking about the next thing I want to do to my car. I'm thinking 1.8 swap and turbo. Currently thinking about getting into drifting but I change my plans every few weeks or so (haha).
I'm looking forward to making new friends and learning as much as I can on this forum!
I'll put some pictures of my car when I first got it to where it is now as well as the carnage of my buddy's first miata.
Thanks for reading and happy holidays.
-Collin

Try reading the words and not just looking at the pictures.
Collin,
Welcome to the forum.
It is best to learn how to handle the car at the limit in a controlled environment with plenty of runoff room, when you get ready. Autocrosses are good for that.
