Over the past year I have been tracking the car a lot and having a blast. Now giving serious thought to going turbo. The Exocet in stock form is a quick car, but still by no means fast in a straight line.
My plan would be to go with a FM2 kit with the new FM221 ECU. I do not think I want huge power. I think something like 170 whp would be plenty for me in such a light car. I can't see myself wanting more than 200 whp.
As such I think I am leaning towards the GT2554r.
One area I am very unsure about is exhaust. 2 years ago I paid a decent amount for a nice Enthusacar exhaust for the Exocet along with the metal core cat. Why run a cat? Because I don't like putting more poison out than I have to
I am kinda partial to the look of it, too.
I know that bigger is better with turbo, and most recommend 3", but how much would it hurt me on my modest power goals leaving the 2.25" exhaust that I have?
2.25 will really choke the turbo, with a significant hit to spool. 2.5 is reasonable if you're aiming in low 200s, if you want 250+ then you should go with 3".
3" all the way. Especially if this is track only. You can certainly keep the noise down even with a 3", but the spool and power loss will be unavoidable with a choked exhaust. Let that beast breathe. Very nice build.
