2nd Miata.. Turbo time. Canadian-AB
Hey All,
I've been around the forums for a few years now but took time off from it after I rolled my first Miata on the track (no roll bar). The A-Pillar kept the car from crushing me. Needless to say, I picked up a newer 03 NB a year later.
After a new year of ownership, I'm ready to take the turbo plunge. Thing is, I've moved and only have access to a socket set and very basic tools (not looking to expand tools too much as I'd like to stay mobile). So with that in mind, I'm unable to fab anything- so I need to piece together a kit that will be more or less drop in and go.
My goals for the turbo build are for a RELIABLE DD Miata.. ~200whp. I originally wanted to go for an FM2 kit but exchange rates are killer, so I'm trying to piece together parts up here in Canadia.
So far, the item's i've collected are:
MS3 by Reverent
AEM wideband AND boost gauge
HKS SSQV (Gotta have that rice..)
In the next month I'll be picking up:
ID750cc
Some sort of clutch (not sure if I want a better flywheel -- does it really add that much?)
I'm eyeing:
Garrett 2560R (Although a T25 may be better for my goals?)
Ebay IC
FM Manifold + FM downpipe (Probably new)
3" turbo exhaust (wherever I can find a deal)
And that's about it. I'm thinking of running just that one gauge and logging everything with the MS (not sure if its the best way of going about it). As for budget? As low as possible-- but I will pay for that added reliability, so suggestions here are welcome.
I think that about covers all the pieces I need..
Glad to be back!
