2001 SE slow build
I've post a couple times in the Megasquirt section but never did this meet and greet. I'll get this over with. I have a 2001 SE (British Racing Green) I bought it in 2003 with 25k on it. It now is just about 140k. Been doing all my own repairs and service for the past 8 years or so. It's real clean and took 2nd place in a car show last year.
I drive it hard on our curvy roads. There aren't many. Auto-X when I can. I'm in the Gearheads Miata Club out of Port Charlotte FL, even though I live in Sebring, 100 miles away. I work (volunteer) in Flagging and communication at the world famous Sebring Raceway. I do hand painted lettering and pinstriping. Been doing it for almost 40 years.
Car is basically stock. CAI, low flow muffler and I have a 5X timing wheel. I finally got to the point that I'm tired of using my accelerator as a light switch. WOT or off. Minivans going away from me at stop lights, etc. That's what made me decide turbo. I liked the linear power of a supercharger but they are too far out of my budget. With the turbo I can do it in steps. 200 hp is going to be a huge learning curve for me, in this car. When I was a kid, in the 70s I had a few hot rods but they were real squirrely. My favorite was my 66 GTO with 389 tri power.
My intention of this build is to build a moderate hp, light good handling, RELIABLE car. I'm going to try and use all new parts and do things right. I ask of the members for whatever suggestions they have. I'm smart enough to filter out most of the total BS. Anyway nice to meet all.
