More info
Mazda Motorsports is testing both Turbo and SC set ups on 1.6 motors to start a new racing series based on 90-93 Spec Miata's. A big part of the decision making in terms of what set up to use for Forced induction will be the ability to Police the series so all cars have similar HP.
Essentially, Mazda Motorsports will be putting together a package for Spec Miata owners to convert their car in one weekend for under $9k, which will include a fully programmable ECU, Injectors, Flares, Upgraded brake package, upgraded shock and spring package, Racing Slicks, Ron Davis Radiator, Intercooler, oil cooler, CAI kit. Possibly a surge tank set up and a plug and play IQ3 Logger Dash if they can keep it all under the price ceiling. There are other videos I have posted on you tube showing the progress of this project.
At Cal Speedway we were running 8 PSI, but will now go to RX-8 injectors and up the boost to 12 PSI. Stay tuned...
