Strange that because he's American in the WRC he has some sort of duty to make us look good.
Again I think it's crap to hate someone because he isn't winning. If he was taking up someone else's spot then fine but I have a feeling he pays most of his own way. This smacks of some motorsports elitism.
Oh the Euros are such better drivers because they have F1 and dominate WRC, Lemans prototypes and we have NASCAR and they are such horrible drivers. That is just silly. It like saying that engineering ability has more to do with where you were born than your training.
The few big bad Euros who tried NASCAR didnt exactly dominate. Don't get me wrong it's borning as hell to watch but it takes skill.
Sorry I just don't get hating on the guy for not being good enough, even the cheesy video ---- seems more like the guy having fun because he can than from him trying to say how great he is. The guy isnt Sonnen talking ---- for 2 yrs then getting beat.

The problem isnt that he idnt the fastest, its that hes not even ready to be running in the classes he is. He is racing against people that were rally racing before they could legally drive on the street.
He is just a celebrity who go the funding to go do it and act like a rockstar, and to make matters worse, people eat it up.
Have you guys seen the new Forza? Its all alternative types of racing, drift, rally, etc.
Suddenly all these retarded kids think they know all about rally racing and ---- because they see this ------ doing it. They dont know about its roots, they dont know about Group B, they dont know ---- about what real racing is.

The reason "real-motorsports-people" dislike Block is because they see him a "simplifying" motorsports or the car-hobby in general. In the same way rap fans dislike artists like lil wayne or waka flocka; their music is seen as generic, and designed to appeal to people who are not "in the scene", so to speak.
In short: people who consider themselves "real" car guys see ken block as just selling the image, but not the product of motorsports and performance driving.
For me, Block is amusing. A few of the jumps were pretty cool. The whole "do lotsa donuts ZOMG!" is a little tiring, but the guy does have good car control to put the vehicle where he wants it. As others have said, look at his results in WRC. Of course, those are the best drivers in the world at what they do. I see him as more of a stunt driver, rather than a racing driver. If you watch his videos from the point of view of "lets go and do some weird/cool stuff with a car", I can see the appeal.

I love his vids! He is a better driver than anyone on this site! He gets people excited about motorsports all kinds of motorsports he isnt the fastest who cares. No one on here can drive anywhere near his ability but we like driving and we still go to our track days and some of us race too. You dont have to be the best to enjoy something or if you do no one has told me!

I get it. It's like drifting, and everyone loves to hate on that. All I saw was a video, with a fast car making awesome sounds, jumping through the streets of san fran. Honestly his last few "gymkhana" videos blew ***, this one however I very much enjoyed. Even if it was for that one huge jump he did which was gimmicky. It was still awesome.

If I were competing on a global level I would not want to suck, and I would not want to suck the year after or the year after that. I don't hate the guy for a having a good time driving and promoting the sport and I pretty easy to please with ripper vids. That's all great. Anything to feed the enthusiasm for doing something beyond turning left or driving a 1/4 mile at time. But if he'd step up his game it would complete the package, it would make him real. If not, then I would venture to say that he is indeed wasting somebody's spot because there is without a doubt somebody in the entire US that can outdrive him. And that's a shame. (Unless of course he's footing the bill for all his ventures, which is not how it appears.) Why would anybody not want a US driver kickin' *** in a global level motorsport? I think it's totally justified for fans to expect more from him.
But when NASCAR heads to a road course look who jumps in the car. And it's not unusual to see things like a non-nascar driver qualifying on pole...errr.um.piquetjr. I'm not crying euro drivers are better. Every NASCAR road course race has a mix of both euro/latin/US road racers. But in WRC they are up top- F1 has some mix.
The few big bad Euros who tried NASCAR didnt exactly dominate.

doesn't even bother me. I'll buy the ST for reasons other than being a Ken Block fan. Plus his fans cant afford even a car as cheap as an ST. I'd rather be in the ST than a FRS or BRZ when it comes to fan boiesza.cdsaf.

Certain people are just generally negative. They are like uber-hipster combined with nega-emo (they turn their loathing outward instead of inward) mixed with attention wh0re. "I thought everything was lame before you could even grow your ironic facial hair, hipster, and I want everyone to know it."
They subconsciously believe that, the more popular a thing is, the more they must hate it. For instance, they might have liked Linkin Park when their first major album debuted, but as soon as the band had a couple of radio hits and "average people" started enjoying the music, they had to unleash their venom.
Exactly. When Sebastien Loeb and Petter Solberg start putting out entertaining stunt videos like this, I'll enjoy those, too.

I feel bad for you, son, if this is really how you think. Go put your Ken Block t-shirt and flat brimmed Monster hat back on, your $2 white-framed gas station sunglasses and go rock out to some Nickelback.

Maybe he lacked specificity, but do you honestly believe that there is anyone on this forum - Savington and emilio included - that could hop in to one of the Monster cars right now and do the sort of stunt driving in those videos as well as Block?

It's not just Block, it's the whole corporate part of it. Marketing gimmick. I'd probably feel a little less irritated if DC and Monster weren't being flashed in my face every 2 seconds. I'm not saying it's not entertaining.
But coming off saying he is a better driver than "anyone on this site" and "gets people excited about all kinds of motorspor" is laughable.
