How to stop a Prius
#2
I loved the lady who called her husband on the cell while bucketing down the road at 95 MPH. She had the time and presence of mind to do that, yet did not put the car in neutral or just turn the key back. Amazing. Even without vac assist, its not hard to use the breaks to slow down when the engine is off.

Edit: Just make sure you get an Obama/Biden and 'erase-ism' or 'end this war' or 'coexist' sticker.

My brother in law drives a *****, I mean Prius. He took it up to 50 and mashed the gas, then mashed the brake without lifting off the gas. Shockingly his pius, I mean Prius, came to a stop. I've seen several car mags say the same thing. The brakes apply more torque than the motor can. How dumb can these people be?

I was tempted to make a video like that. About a week before the Toyotall recall, my gas pedal got stuck. Flat, 100% open. In something much faster than any 'Yota, I was in an A6 2.7t. Did I panic? No. Did I ride the brakes? No. Did I try to yank the handbrake as some retards have been suggesting? No.
For ***** sake, I didn't even have to think. I just realized what was happening, put it in neutral, bounced off the limiter a couple times, and shut off the engine while I reached down and pulled up the gas pedal manually.
God damn, those people pissed me off. The worst was that off-duty PO that had is whole family in the car, was belting down the highway at 120mph, stopped panicking and called the police. How ******* stupid do you have to be to not just put it in neutral and turn the engine off? A ******* PO did that!
/rant.

I read some magazine where they tested a c6 corvette and it stopped...

People never believe me when I tell them to put cargo at the front of the bed because it will experience more Gs from braking than it ever will from acceleration.
Think of stopping distances versus 1/4mile acceleration...most cars can slow from 70mph in 100ft and some change. 1/4 mile is 1320ft, and cars are barely getting over 90mph....same mass, and it's all acceleration, even when it's called deceleration.
Of course brakes have more torque. People are idiots.
I should be laughing, but it makes me mad.

as a tree hugging liberal, you all probably assume that I bow down to the prius.
it's not true!
it is true that i frequently rent them for the additional $5/day (on top of 15/day ooh) when I travel, but you know what? the more I drove them, the more I hated them. sure, they have great low speed torque and get phenomenal gas mileage (perfect rental), but they SUCK MY SHAVED NUTS in terms of driver enjoyment.
So... since last time I was in CA we had a few different rental cars (long story), the first was a prius but the rest were kia rios (no power locks wut?) and they were slow but mor enjoyable to drive than a prius.
but whatever, i'm a car guy. gas mileage is great, but it's not the only variable.
also, in 2004, after learning bush was a criminal, why wouldn't you rock a kerry sticker?
