The campgrounds are on the top of the ridge that forms the bowl that the track sits in. There is not a lot of cover anywhere, other than maybe "Can Am C." The lower sites in "Chaparral B" have decent shade IIRC. Maybe I'll take a drive out there this evening and see what's up.
Id call it a solid 6, but sometimes its a 4. Welcome to Monterey County But really it depends on the weather. Hell, it RAINED the other weekend during the Superbike race. You are not going to spending a lot of time in your campsite when it really matters. Last year IIRC it was in the 80's and dry so hydration, sunblock and a hat with good coverage are a must. Unless you want to end up like Lobster Vlad. If you've survived Chunderhill in July/August, you got this. Just remember it gets cold and damp out here at night. Dat coastal fog is srs busns. Being that you live in Oregon you should have no problem with this.

Yes to breakfast.
Last year the weather was absolutely perfect. Foggy in the morning, cleared by the time the first cars were on the track. Warmed up to like 78-80 tops. It was absolutely freaking fantastic.
Being almost exactly one month later, I expect it to still be fantastic, and perhaps a little bit cooler.
Yes, breakfast Friday morning again for SURE. and actually organized MT.net paddock parking. Also, I think we should do a drive on Friday, maybe a couple hours, of the area/nice roads.
@doward, I sent Darryl one for you. But if you haven't gotten one from him, or won't be seeing him for a while, PM me your address and I'll try to get one out soonish. If I still have them. Or just PM me and i'll see if I have them, and if I do I'll reply to get your address. Whatevers.

Did you guys get the email from Doug? Anyone interested in adding Monday the 5th to the trackday madness?
Check yer spam folders people.
Greetings Miatas at Mazda Raceway Attendees,
Looking at the roster for the Oct 3/4 event it's clear that many of you are coming to Monterey from great distances. That being the case, you probably want as much time behind the wheel as possible. Right? Well, we may have another opportunity for you to get an additional day in before you head home. That day is Monday, October 5th.
As you're probably aware, the weekend event has a 103db sound limit for vehicles on track. Days with these higher limits are extremely rare and we know that some of you need this higher threshold to drive your car on this track. For those of you who have quieter exhaust systems you may want to consider running another day if you can meet or beat the 90db sound limit. All stock Miatas will not have a problem staying under 90db and even some aftermarket exhaust systems can easily meet the 90db limit.
All that said, we're trying to get a 'show of hands' of drivers who may be interested in driving the track a 3rd day. We haven't finalized all of the details yet but we estimate the entry fee for a (4) run group format to be between $250 and $275 for the day. You'd get about (5) run session at 20 minutes each with potential of getting one additional session throughout the day as space permits.
If you're interested in attending, PLEASE REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE WITH YOUR INTEREST BY END OF DAY MONDAY, AUGUST 3RD!!! DO NOT REPLY IF YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN ATTENDING THIS 3RD DAY.
We will send another message next week after we have a rough headcount of those interested in coming out.
Thanks for your time and for considering this additional day on the track. Rick and I look forward to providing you another memorable weekend in Monterey and on Mazda Raceway!
Take care,
Doug Gale

After driving Sat/Sun I'm not sure how burned out I'm going to be or what my consumables are going to look like. This is starting to look like it might be my first HPDE event with the turbo. At least I'm close to home

Bump, if you have a friend that is looking for a spot send them my way. Will be open till next monday where I'll just do a traditional refund.

I will not be able to make this event. I'd rather sell it to someone in the MT community than get a refund and have my spot go to the next on the waiting list. I'm running C2 on sat and C on sunday. Price is $475 for both days (exactly what I paid). I'll keep this open for a week and if I don't have any takers I'll do a normal refund. PM me if your interested.

https://www.miatasatmazdaraceway.com/registration.php

I swear I have his phone number somewhere, if I can find it I'll shoot him a text as well.
Edit: Text sent! We'll see if I got the number right. I think he and I have both changed phones since we last exchanged messages.

Lolol. Sad part is I'm probably not even going to be driving down. I somehow was able to talk my gf into driving the car down if my license is suspended by then (speeding tickets).
