TxMC round 3 @ TWS results
As expected, a great time was had by all this weekend. weather turned out great (unless you were there early fri. lol) there were a few peeps missing, but still had a decent turnout. everyone was driving great, a few really stepped it up dropping many seconds from their first to last sessions. thanks everyone for showing up and making it a great event. here's the results.
street class
1st place - quan P. (nc eunos) 2:09.761 10pts.
2nd - bill g. (****) 2:28.335 8pts.
modified class
1st place - john w. (johnwag) 2:03.977 (10pts.)
2nd - robert h. (rharris19) 2:10.191 (8pts.)
3rd - jacob g. (jacob300zx) 2:11.390 (6pts.)
unlimited class
1st place - mike e. (eastepR1) 1:59.992 (10pts.)
2nd - daniel l. (sixace) 2:00.654 (8pts.)
3rd - john z. (spoolin2bars) 2:01.323 (6pts.)
4th - steve p. (doubleO86) 2:01.8 (5pts.)
5th - david o. (******) 2:02.372 (4pts)
6th - carter w. (doghouse) 2:03.1 (3pts.)
7th - john r (zx-tex) dnf (1pts.)
next one is hallett in 6 weeks, plenty of time for maint. and upgrades. BUT, (and that is a big but!) it's one hell of a haul for me at the southern most tip o' texas. i'm tempted to just keep going till i hit cali. or maybe barber motorsports park! i don't know we'll see. if hustler goes i may be forced to go also. i can't let him off that easy. no more freebie wins due to technical errors. i have a transponder now to cut out the shennanigans.

was he? i thought he swapped on some nitto's to run mod? either way, yeah that's a good lap. i'm really impressed with the nc's. i knew geezer's car was fast, but he's done alot to it and has a $5k suspension/tire setup. but quan's car is still a daily, loaded, comfy car. and quan dropped from 2:20's in the morning to 2:16.xx in the 3rd session, to 2:09.xx in his last!
just for reference, the fastest spec miata lap this weekend was a 2:03.092
on sunday. john phillips of phillips race prep, the guy that trailers 8 sm's to the events/rentals, ran a 2:04.471 on sat.

yeah, you missed out. i don't know about hallett but you better be at the next event at tws. although august at tws is brutal, but it will be clockwise which is really fun. maybe we need to get a couple of us up there next month for a royal rumble during one of the tws open track days?

Looks like the one this friday is going to be wet. if that doesnt shake things up i dont know what will!
I'll be instructing at the DE at tws on may 15-16 if yall want to come out. Just a fun DE no times, no pressure, just driving! I've got a few laps of TWS under my belt and am happy to share. I accept payment in the form of soda!

Thanks for inflating my ego guys! A big thanks to Quan for letting me co-drive his car. I wasn't going to go until he offered to let me co-drive his car, as i'm about to be unemployed. He's a good dude. Thank you, RObert Harris, for letting me crash in your hotel room. I appreciate all of you guys who let me use gear and supplied us with stuff we didn't have.
That configuration was alot of fun! I didn't realize how great the back section was and how much positive camber was in those turns. video doesn't do it justice.
I'm completely impressed with the NC! The brakes, suspension and powerband are so much better and you can put huge tires on the car. Gary@trackdog just picked one up from New Orleans yesterday, so I'm looking forward to the development.
I believe that with a good diff and alignment in the right hands, NC's can easily be under 2 minutes out there. I know that I left an easy 2 seconds on the track just in turn 1 and turn 7.
Hankook RS3's are really nice tires. it's amazing how street tire technology has advanced in four years. The tires were solid between both Quan and I doing sessions back to back. I felt the grip level fall off hard after consistent hot laps, but if I let them cool down for a quarter lap, they would regain grip composure and stay solid

While the epic video is being worked up, here is a poorly produced, poorly filmed video I got out of the car. The two highlights are RHarris flicking me off (not visible, but I remember it vividly coming onto the straight) and the Atom spinning off the track around 7:30.

Epic video
Daaaamn! I can't follow that!
Why y'wanna upstage me like that and steal my thunder?
Oh, well, here go my feeble attempt at an epic video. Turn up the volume for the full effect.
Thanks again to Flores for providing the photos. The photo of the three trophy winners was provided by Spoolin2bars.
Thanks to Herb Alpert, Mike Patton, and Dick Dale for the music.
