texas miata challenge 2010

Yup, I talked to spoolin and he agreed on giving you the -1 if you want it. Let see...
tires +6
wheel width +2
suspension +2
rearend +1
exhaust +1
internal engine +2
external engine +1
forced ind +4
wing +1 (if you get it)
girl -1
If I read the rules right thats 19? Am I adding it up right?

All of this whining about classes is stupid. If you sheerly measure each car by hp vs weight, my car and SM's are at a huge disadvantage. I'm pulling a number out of the air here, let's say my car weighs 2100 pounds with my 120whp. That is 17.5lbs to 1 hp. Whereas jeff's car, which i'm gonna guess high and say weighs 2500 lbs and has 210whp, would come out to 11.9lbs to 1 hp.
I don't really have a problem with the points system. My car is maxed out in points for modified. If i decide to put in aftermarket valve springs, that puts me in unlimited. I would have to sacrifice somewhere else to stay in modified. That's what the point system is about. I am curious to see what kind of changes the california guys are talking about.

For your car and my car to have equal hp/weight, your miata would have to weigh 2400#'s and have 137.5 whp to equal my hp/weight. We all know that your car is making closer to 200whp at 11psi.
So, unless i find a treasure chest or find some sponsors, my car will be as is for a long time.

u forget about teh skillz and big ballz. with enough of those you can make up for what your car lacks. have you seen what kinda lap times jason saini puts down in a spec miata at msr-c? i would be totally stoked if i could even match his lap times in my car with an extra 80-100whp!

I have skillz and 3 grotesquely large *********, but they don't make up for horsepower on the straights. My car doesn't have a chance at eagles canyon. Yes, I have seen saini's times. I've ran high 1:25's at MSR-C and he's running mid 1:24's with the safe racer SM. That car has $30K in it, maybe more.

you didn't read that grassroots issue? he was out there with the safe racer sm, and 2 privateers in their cars. (midpackers or worse) they did a whole deal about the frt. running guys cheating. turns out it was more prep and knowing the rules etc. anyway's after finding some untapped power and proper weight and corner balancing they all went back out to see how times were affected. then they traded cars. jason saini ran within a few tenths of the lap record (his own i think) at the start in the safe racer car. at the end, while driving one of the mid pack guys cars he ran even faster. i wanna say it was in the 1:23's. but since it wasn't during an official race the time doesn't count. so that sub 10k car had the ability to run as fast as the 30k championship winning sponsored car. (with the right driver) the other guy was still 2-3 sec. back in his own car.
I don't give a **** how good a driver Johnfag is, put FI on any miata and he doesn't have much of a chance. It will be a cold day in hell before he runs a session in my car with a transponder, lol.
I'm more familiar with Hallett than any other track, and I don't believe for a god damn minute that the SM lap record is a 1:26. There is no way in hell that car was legal and if it showed up for an event with me I'd put up the protest money alone.

A couple of quotes:
"Jason, however, went a smidge faster in the pro car to reset the baseline at 1:24.632."
"Jason actually bested his own Spec Miata lap record in Mike’s car after the facelift, setting a 1:24.475. Of course, since we weren’t part of an official race weekend, that won’t count as the record."
My car still needs alot of attention, as far as dialing it in. It would be nice to have the crew/equipment to change my alignment every race.

i'm not sure what point we're arguing over? but all i'm saying is:
1. wags don't sell yourself short. i'm sure your gonna do great.
2. you don't need a 30k spec miata to run a fast lap. as evidenced by john's quote from the issue. he did beat his own sm lap record in a 10k or less mid pack running car. and yes hustler, they absolutely did run spec tires. that was the whole point of the issue. i guess we better beat them or we really suck. only been to msr-c once and got about a dozen clean laps that day.
3. wags isn't even in unlimited so what's the worry? if someone is in modified with a turbo they are gonna be at a dis-advantage in tires, suspension, and aero.
4. i just put my car on the scales and saw some real nice %'s and lb's. you guys better get your setups right. lol... fresh alignment tomorrow and private track time sunday. finally get some test laps on these coilovers.
