Round 5 TxMC @ Harris Hill results
Well that was interesting! Fire stopped our last event at H2R, rain tried to put a damper on this one. luckily, no torrential downpour occured. We did start out with a wet track that gradually started to dry before lunch. Afterwards we returned to another wet, and much more slippery track, but this time it did completely dry out towards the end of the day. That prompted an all out assault on the track with 1 hour to go, and times tumbled.
We did something new at this event. Since it was a regular members day, and the track officials were so inclined, we ran ccw first half of the day and cw on the second half. This means that points will be awarded for each direction.
First off was ccw. It's not a common direction at this track, but it is fun and quite different than cw. Especially t4-t5 with it's tight turns and steep hill.
Street Class
1st place: Shawn (carthusiast) 1:38.0 10pts.
2nd: Jacob G. (jacob300zx) 1:38.7 8pts.
3rd: Bill g. (xxxxx) 1:42.2 6pts.
Modified Class
1st place: Chris L. (ravenx) 1:38.0 10pts.
Unlimited Class
1st place: John R. (zx-tex) 1:30.6 10pts.
2nd: John Z. (spoolin2bars) 1:33.1 8pts.
3rd: Trey R. (hustler) 1:33.9 6pts.
4th: John W. (johnwags) 1:35.7 5pts.
things to note: Shawn from cali. coaxed a 1:38 on a damp track in a street class car. Wags ran a great time (wet) in a mod class car but taking points in unlimited for the championship. Conti's hate water.
Clockwise
Street Class
1st place: Jacob G. (jacob300zx) 1:37.5 10pts.
2nd: Bill G. (xxxx) 1:44.2 8pts.
3rd: Kevin (xxxxx) 1:47.6 6pts.
Modified Class
1st place: Chris L (ravenx) 1:35.0 10pts.
Unlimited Class
1st place: John Z. (spoolin2bars) 1:26.8 10pts.
2nd: John R. (zx-tex) 1:28.5 8pts.
3rd: Trey R. (hustler) 1:28.9 6pts.
4th: John W. (johnwags) 1:29.83 5pts.
Things to note
Traction non-existant after lunch. Nobody ran decent laps till 1hr. before end of day. Street class shared one car. Kevin ran a miata on track for the 1st time and is hooked (sti driver) Jake put michelin slicks on the Boss and ran an easy 1:27.5. I drove it and that thing is a beast. So easy to drive, big power, comfy. Needs a harness bad with the slicks on. Sun never came out, track was too cold and green for zx-tex and I tires. I know when i pulled into the paddock, the tires were barely warm.
Want to thank everybody for coming out and supporting the challenge despite the threat of bad weather. Big thanks to John R. for setting us up at H2R. It was great meeting Chance and Shawn (or Sean?). Hope they had fun and will join us again. Hope everybody is ready the season final next month at TWS. From what i can tell, all the classes are still up for grabs. And as i mentioned before, the trophies this year will be spectacular!

I'd like to thank JZ for running the books and organizing, John Roberts for the member leverage, Johnwag for the inapropriate touching, Sean for the suspended disbelief that we are "really that immature", Raven-X for not breaking his car again, Kevin for driving me to lunch, and Jake for reminding me that I am America.
I wish I had video of Jake's "flip to pass" hand gestures.

Awesome, automatic 1st place, lawl! hahaha. I'm curious to know what has been done to Jake's father's Miata in Street class seeing how Shawn and I had the same CCW times (then again my R888s were starting to cord, hehe). Can't wait to try out NT-01s on my car. I was flyin' going CW trying to chase Trey and John Roberts after they passed.

One of these days my G2X will work. It was cool to put Chris Kearn's data up and compare to pre-MegaSquirt and see how the 12% increase in power made a huge difference in lap time. My log will certainly thrill you.

WTF, Hustler. I saw a glamour shot of your car at HHR and didn't see the mirror bling from Hallett.
But yeah, race keeper kicks ***. Adding the megasquirt was good for a 15-20% increase in acceleration G's at WOT and the speed trace was definitely on a whole new trajectory.
ECR should show an even bigger difference. Just got my reclass back for the new power, and I can run 119hp at 2175 for TTE(0). No way I can make that weight in the next 10 days, but I should be able to get down from 2360 to 2230-2240.
