This is it! Round 1, 2015 Miata Challenge!
Miata Challenge round #1-Buttonwillow!
*January 25*
The first rule of Miata Challenge: It’s not Fight Club.
Who will be Niki Lauda and who will be James Hunt this year?
Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna?
Will Matthew K hold his 0.2 second gap over Pablo this year (Bastard!).
Will William be able to beat Emilio using Emilio's own car this year? Always a bridesmaid, never a bride...
It’s safe! [Safest trackday organization you'll ever run with.]
trackday's are safe. Everyone is going the same direction, 99% of the time. Or 90%.
It’s cheap!
Have you seen your insurance increase after a ticket or three? Or the cost of tickets now with any supplemental fees!?
It’s fun!
How can it not be? Often we do night before bbq’s where we grill beef and drink good craft beers (there’s rumor to be bourbon at select events!).
Driving the cars at your limit is beyond fun! Bring a spouse, bring a friend, give each other joy rides (in the cars).
Heck, I’ll give you a joy ride but won’t guarantee actually being fast, lol.
Round 1 traditionally visits Buttonwillow Raceway. A lovely track-2.63 miles of wicked goodness.
This is really one of the best tracks around. Some technical sections, some fast sections, some elevation changes…
It doesn’t get better than this unless you’re that little b*tch of a historic track that rhymes with bagoona Leca or some thunderous mound.
It's also been repaved recently so the tarmac is as smooth as a baby's butt!
Round 1 is Buttonwillow 13cw configuration. The fastest. You’ll be fastest here, and suave, very suave.

Miata Challenge registration-Round 1
There are 4 classes:
-Street, aka I’m pretty stock and I think I have a helmet somewhere.
-Modified, aka I think I like this and want more.
-Super-Modified, aka don’t tell my wife what I’ve done to the car!
-Unlimited, aka there’s a Miata under there somewhere.

Rules & Classing
Also a very active Miata Challenge Facebook group where you can ask any rules, class, build, party questions can be found here:
Miata Challenge Facebook page
Also conveniently on that Facebook page is a link to an Excel spreadsheet for you to fill out that tells you what class you'd be in.
Good resource to have.

Join us! This year there’s $5,000 in cash/prizes from sponsors 949 Racing-SuperMiata and TrackSpeed Engineering!
Enter at least 4 events to be eligible for overall end of year placings.
Humbly submitted,
Pablo; amateur wannabe race car driver, philanthropist*
*my philanthropy is limited to throwing my money at good beer and beef steaks. That occurs at the track the night before when we bbq.
#MCSPMBBQFTW!
And we WILL be BBQing at the track the night before. You can camp there or sleep in a local hotel but dont miss the festivities...

...yup
I've got quite a bit of work to do on the car. I'm going to try the foamectomy, but I'm thinking elise seats or something to keep the stock look while getting me lower, as I think the foamectomy won't get me all the way there.

I know it would be a bit of a hassle/expense/etc but if you could swing a second drivers seat to swap in and out for trackdays, even a stock one thats been massaged, that would be better. You wouldnt give up comfort day to day and you could take the track seat and rip all the foam out of it and mount it directly to the floor, no sliders. Or pony up a few bucks for a race seat and mount that to the floor, swapping it in and out for trackdays.

Results are in!
Also of note, Emilio set a new track record for Supermod (MCSM) as did Erik Bruner for Mod (MCMOD)!
The highlights of the day were all in the pits though with all the camaraderie and exchanging of sh*t talking as well as tips and tricks. Which pale in comparision to the bbq the night before!
Roudn 2 will be Feb 22 at Autoclub Speedway in Fontana!
