Miatas at the Lake 2010- Southeast MT.net Meetup
We're having a Miataturbo.net shindig and everybody with over 100 posts is invited! Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and beyond are welcomed and encouraged to attend.
When: Saturday, August 7th ALL DAY AND INTO THE NIGHT. Some of the out of town guests will be arriving Friday the 6th and departing some time on Sunday the 8th..
Where: 205 Cherokee Drive, Jackson, GA. Jackson Lake is a 4,750 acre lake about 40 minutes southeast of the Atlanta airport.
I'm volunteering my lakehouse as the location. We'll all get to meet each other, grill out, wakeboard, tube, swim, drink beer, talk about and check out each other's cars, drink beer, ride around in the boat, listen to music, and drink beer.
I'm bringing my boat, a tube and a wakeboard up. Someone else has mentioned bringing his jetski. Bringing additional boats and watercraft is also encouraged. We have plenty of room for docking and anchoring in the cove. The boat ramp is right around the corner.
I have already promised some of my available accommodations to South Florida guys who are coming up (Phil[Levnubhin] and Jared[Leatherface24] are sharing the front bedroom and Troy[miata2fast] has the queen size hide-a-bed sofa if he still wants it). There is room downstairs for a few air mattresses, cots, or bedrolls if anyone wants to crash there, but I need an RSVP on that so we don't run out of room.
For out of town guests that wish to have a bit more privacy, the Days Inn in Jackson, GA is only eight miles away and is newly remodeled. Their standard rate is $48/night, but we can get a group rate if there is interest in about ten rooms. RSVP for that as well and we'll see what we can negotiate for a group rate.
You are encouraged to bring your GF or wife if she isn't a whiny or demanding bitch. If she is, leave her at home where she belongs. If she is fun to be around you are welcome to bring her. If you are unsure which type she is ask yourself "Would Hustler bring her?" It is also encouraged that you bring multiple females so that we don't end up being a bunch of shirtless dudes frolicking in the water together. Seriously, if you ask a chick if she and her friend want to go party at the lake on Saturday they usually will go for it... unless you drive a Miata.
Food and drinks: Bring some more. I'll pick up some burgers and hotdogs and beer but if you bring some, too, that's a help. Bringing additional beer, chips, and other standard cookout food and drinks is welcomed so we don't run out.
Plan to have a great time rain or shine. This is primarily about meeting up with other guys from the forum and having fun. Distance travelers are encouraged and Atlanta is cheap to fly into. Rent a cheap car or maybe you can get a local to pick you up.
We hope to see you at the lake.

OK, I've got an RSVP from dpexp and he's got the first floor reservation for an air mattress.
That's three from the
Lauderdale/Miami area already. It looks like southeast Florida is stepping up and bringing a crew on a roadtrip.
I think I'll come up with a longest distance prize.
BTW, if anybody gets hurt on my property we are just tying cinder blocks to your ankles and taking you out to the middle of the cove. If I could afford to pay the deductible right now I'd already be turboed.

I'll mark you down for the floor, but are you sure you're boyfriend is going to be cool with the air mattress?
10-4 Bring something to lay on that's padded like a sleeping bag. It's one of those wood-like floors - not carpet or anything remotely comfy.
It's the little jaunt between there and the interstate that worries me most.

I just remembered, if anyone brings a girl and is planning on sleeping on the floor I can get you a semi-private room. The laundry room is right off the kitchen and has a door for privacy and is plenty large enough to sleep two people on the floor. It is air conditioned and has a scenic view from its floor length window. Tropical style roll-up blinds allow the guest to customize their environment further. It is the veritable Honeymoon Suite of terrestrial somnolence.

I'd sleep in the car before I let the vultures, I mean, skeeters carry me away. Hotel costs money, and is away from the fun. If I'm gonna travel to a hotel to sleep, I'm just going home. Maybe that's just me. I can find some creative sleeping spots, so I'm not worried about myself. I've woken up in some weird places, that weren't Hustlers ***.

Looks like you can fly AirTran for $219 RT all taxes and fees included from MSP to ATL.
I was just up there this weekend and it was warm but less humid than central Florida. It is still a vacation when I go up there. There was a nice light breeze on both Saturday and Sunday.
