Miata Challenge Round 1: Buttonwillow Raceway (1/31/2010)
Alright, you asked for rule changes, better dates and a more relaxed schedule for this year's Miata Challenge. So far, only 2 dates (this one and March 13th) show on the Speed Ventures calender, but Emilio's planning for 10 rounds evenly spaced throughout the year until Dec. 2010, including auto-x as their own rounds. So yeah, let's see what you are made of!
Round 1 registration link: Sun, Jan. 31st, Buttonwillow Raceway
(Note: transponders are required. Please order one during online registration.)
2010 Rules and Regulations link: 2010 Final Draft (link for official MC page and classing calculator still under construction)
I'll update the MC website and this thread with a link to the finalized 2010 rules and car class calculator.
If the end of the 2009 season and the brief off-season says anything, I expect hype and rule changes (and now known season and per event prizes) will entice people in Street class and Modified class to battle well this year, especially for Roger Lee and Leonard Patterson to defend their respective titles.
In the meanwhile, Unlimited class will only get crazier as William Chen will finally join in for a full season with his surprisingly smooth E85, Rotrex-powered fastback Miata. However, the Unlimited class champion, Andrew Kidd, will not take his entry lightly, especially with Gordon Jennings creeping at him with his staggeringly fast 300whp Rotrex-powered Miata. Can Andrew fend off the supercharger onslaught with his provenly lethal 322whp turbo Miata and defend the honor of turbo Miatas everywhere? We'll see...
Per usual, Speed Ventures credits on rewarded to the podium finishers of each class.
And remember, you guys are starting this year fighting for the season grand prizes, as per the 2009 season finale.

Is there a miata challenge for the northern part of the state, I would love to try and compete but the travel would be impossible being a new dad and the fact that my wife and baby always come to the track with me. Why dont they do thunder hill and Infinion? Im sure Im not the only guy in the bay area with a track only unlimited class car.

Ok cool I would like to meet you and some of the other guys that are religious track nuts, maybe I can learn a thing or two from some one that can actually drive one of these things. I normally go to the track with NCRC or TEAM racing Ive only been with speed ventures once and I only saw one other miata there.
