Blytheville Arkansas Solo National Tour, 10/23-24

I'm going to the Blytheville Fall Tour, October 23-24. Me and co-driver will be there for course walk first thing Friday morning. Is anyone else here either planning on going, or local to the area down there? I'm thinking of doing a little cookout on site on the day there won't be a catered meal, wouldn't mind getting a little group together to celebrate our Miata-ness.

No telling on the weather this far out, lul. Sadly our 'csp' car isn't nearly sorted enough to even pretend like we have a chance. I would just go to hang out as a lot of my friends are gonna be there, but alas I'm married and have twin 1.5yr olds. Its a good site tho, I doubt many of our miata folks go, none of them compete outside local events.

Good to meet you too Webby! It was a good weekend, but could have been better. I feel like I left probably .75 seconds out there each day. I just need to trust the car more at the higher speeds like we were hitting on those courses. I never even felt the slightest bit out of control. That is also the first time that Dan has beat me this year other than at a local, but then again he trusts the car more than me since he has years more seat time in it than me. I did clip off a 48.2 in the challenge which made me feel a little better since that would have been enough for the win, however it did take me extra runs to get there so who knows if it would have played out different.
I am sure we will see you again at some events in 2011.

I ran a 53.5 on Saturday and a 51.85 clean/51.37+1 on Sunday. I probably left at least .75 on the table Sunday. On Saturday, especially considering most drivers were easily within .5 of their Sunday times on Saturday, I'd say I was a full couple seconds off pace on Saturday. We were having problems shifting on Saturday, ended up just taking out some clutch pedal free play and it was 100%. The shifting problems distracted us from our driving on Saturday.
I was really happy with my Sunday runs, particularly the coned run. I hit the cone on the left coming out of the offset that was right after the longer slalom. I guess I carried too much speed through the offset .
Granted, I was 5+ seconds off of Brandon's time for the weekend, but it was a minor victory for me considering the light prep status of the car. For next year, we're swapping a 99 1.8 for the 1.6, going up in spring rate, shock revalve to match, and getting rid of some weight (including the roll bar!). At least we'll be closer to the fast guys next year! It really was a great way to wrap up my season.
