In MS doing my annual small arms requal (well, I skipped last year because I could). Love the place I'm at, it is the best of several I have taken the class at. Good ol' boys whose main aim is to get people qualified. Plus it's nice getting paid to put holes in paper.
They have been told we will be issued the new M17 and M16 soon. Of course this has been talked about for 6-7 years but it appears it is finally moving ahead. We will likely hold on to at least one M14 to use for line throwing.
Saint John Moses Browning would never have recognized a little plastic piece of **** like the KelTec P-3AT as a legitimate gun, but if you're willing to put some sandpaper and emery cloth into it, it's actually possible to turn one into something which can put a few rounds through a semi-decent-looking circle, without it trying to amputate your finger at the distal interphalangeal joint in the process.
I still "daily carry" my KelTec P32 (I only leave the property every 7-10 days). I went with it years ago over the 380 because it carried an extra round and didn't have a safety to worry about. I pocket carry and often forget it is there. In the 18 months since I was last on MT.net I have retired and moved to 30 acres in the boondocks of East Tennessee. I purchased an XDM 40 from a friend who needed some quick cash before I left. I was going to carry it on the farm but I don't know if I want to scratch it and drop it in the mud when I jump off my excavator or tractor.
1906 H&R .22 we found while clearing out my late FIL’s attic. 7 shot. Fastest way to load/reload is to remove the cylinder and push out spent shells. Had to make a new front sight from a piece of brass sheet - still pretty damn inaccurate. Best thing about it is that it can shoot .22 shorts, so I can use the same ammo as my small-frame Lightning from 1896.
When I showed my oldest, he said at least if you run out of ammo you can beat them with it.
Just found out I can buy a new Sig factory made slide for my P226 that has been milled and has a red dot sight installed. Now I have two months to decide if I need it or not (I really don't but wants and needs sometimes get mixed up ).
Judge Steven McGlynn of the US District Court for the Southern District of Illinois just granted a preliminary injunction against the statewide ban on "assault weapons" and large magazines. Which means that, as of today, the law cannot be enforced.
No telling how long this will last.
So, quick poll: S&W M&P15 Sport II, or Springfield Saint?

I vote for Palmetto State Armory parts and roll your own. You can put together a decent rifle for not a lot of money.

Assume that we have maybe a one week window before the injunction is vacated, and all of that **** goes back to being illegal to buy (but not to own, if you already have it) again.
This is a time to be saying "Yes, this complete gun, which is on the shelf in local stock, that's the one I choose."
I have a S&W M&P15-22 as one of my plinking rifles. I have been happy with it. Overall I would say buy either one that you can buy that day. At this point in time I think even the cheapest AR's out there end up working great for their owners.
Dad gave me his S&W M1917. It was Grandpa's and my dad would play with it (cowboys and indians) when he was a kid. We spent a weekend casting bullets and reloading at my house. It was a good time.
A while ago I picked up a CZ457 in the Boyd's AT-One stock. Unfortunately, the stock didn't fit me at all, so I picked up a KRG Bravo for it. I have a Bravo on my Tikka T1X, so I knew I would like the stock. Last week I finally got it out to the range for some trigger time. I'm impressed so far... it only has ~100 rnds through it at this point, and it really takes 300-500 for a .22 to really start shooting.
Had no problem hitting 3" steels at 175yds.
The trigger still needs some work. Thinking about a Timney... not many options for these rifles. Also going to switch from low to medium height rings to match the ergos on my T1X.
I picked up a FN PS90. My inner child is giddy with excitement to relive Goldeneye on the N64 in real life.Maybe one day in the future I can actually afford some 5.7 ammo.
Anyone have any first-hand knowledge of the Desert Tech MDRX bullpup? I've been thinking about getting a bullpup and my oldest told me about these. Reviews I've read online say either they are very good, or a POS.
No first-hand knowledge, but discussions on other forums about lots of problems, with a few people having guns that run. Lots of complaints about the customer service, though... that would be a deal killer for me.

If you want a bullpup getting an AUG is really the answer. I love mine.
If you just want to do some plinking with one, Walther G22 is the answer. I picked one up for about $350 on Gunbroker and it has been a super fun cheap bullpup to shoot.
Thanks for the responses to my query. I mainly want a bullpup to satisfy my urge for something different. Also, I figure it would be easier for the wife to handle size-wise (if I can get her to shoot again). For a long time I've lusted after an AUG, but now I'm seeing these more modern styles so I'm headed down the rabbit hole and trying to figure it out. I'll be sure to post when I make my choice (which won't be until I get home in another two months).
