The US military or approved allies. The design is all done. I'm just working on refining certain parts for fewer failure to feeds and ease of manufacturing. The other fun thing with Mk19's is when you accidently shoot your target stand you know it.
^Be wary posting stuff like that... somebody gets ahold of that and sends it TheFirearmBlog with a made-up story about how it happened and you're boss wants heads to roll for embarrassing the company. I'd delete that shiz.
More shooting tonight, I'm fairly satisfied with my grouping at 25 metres through iron sights. Also fired a few rounds through a 1916 no.3 Enfield rifle. Could barely hit the paper with it but it was great GF was all giddy too after shooting it, she's about as tall as the rifle with the bayonet attached
Just picked up a Vortex Diamondback HP 3-12x42 on sale @ Cabela's for $220.
Haven't had a scope with side focus before. I think I am going to like it.
Need to find a mount now. Looking at the Aero Precision Ultralight, but not sure yet.
Great buy on the Diamondback HP... I really think those are the best deals going right now for the price. Vortex just released the DB in a tactical model as well, with exposed turrets, but without the side-focus... if they'd have left the side-focus and still kept it under $250, they'd probably steal a lot of sales from the low-end Vipers.
At PSA today, another great deal on scopes... I owned this exact scope on a .308 bolt-gun for about a year and loved it. I paid $160 at an Academy and had zero complaints at the price... for just $99, you gotta be kidding me! Bushnell Trophy XLT 4-12X40 Riflescope, Matte, DOA 600 Reticle - 734120B
While you're checking out at PSA, good opportunity to score the best deal on the whole web for an LPK... PSA standard with an MOE grip and ALG QMS trigger for $60, cannot be beat! This LPK will be going in my Aero lowers as soon as the Holidays end and the wife isn't scrutinizing our credit-cards as much. Palmetto State Armory MOE QMS LPK - 28767
Ordered some bipods, but other than that, I think I've gotten this thing about all buttoned up. Looking forward to shooting it with the scope now. Shot a few (20) rounds without any sights just to try it out. Definitely seems like the bcg needs to wear into the upper a bit, but hopefully those jams will sort themselves out. I had to "mortar" it twice to get the bolt unstuck (though I chose to just take out the rear pin and bull the bcg back instead). From what I've read online, this should go away after putting a few mags through it. Keeping plenty of lube in there though.
^Looks like a shooter...start saving up for a suppressor... the HPA will get traction pretty quick.
I've got my AR10 up for sale. I did all the homework required, and am pretty sure a new Ruger American Predator is headed my way... 6.5 Creedmoor. Also going the homework on a chassis, right now the MDTTAC LSS gets the nod. I'm really torn on going the budget scope route or just biting the bullet for something legit. I've learned a lot about scopes recently and have re-adjusted my thinking. I was all set on an Athlon FFP, but now think I might just step up to a used Burris XTR or Bushnell Tactical... maybe a Viper PST. It has to track, which based on all the reviews and videos and articles I've read, is a crapshoot even in the hi-dollar scopes.
Remember that Vortex gives a very generous military discount. I think it'd be hard to justify going with anything else unless you want to step up to a Leopold Tactical, Nightforce, ect.
^Yup. It's a good deal, but you can often find certain models for less when retailers have sales. In fact, Experticity (formerly Promotive) just had a crazy deal on Vortex... 50% off MSRP with free shipping. If they had any Gen1 PST's, I probably would have jumped, but they only had the new Gen2's... but crazy good deals on just about everything else in their line. An FFP 4-16x50 Viper might be what I end up with if something else doesn't grab me.
why save up for a compressor? The second the HPA goes through I'm buying $12 oil filter adapter "solvent traps" for all my guns that dont already have cans. After the initial surge for a year or two the price of suppressors will drop significantly. In countries where they're already legal you can already buy them for super cheap.

The cheap aluminum ones are already cheap. I've got a 6" aluminum trap for my .22lr that I'm under $100 all in with. You can buy those kinds now: solvent traps
When I buy mine, they're going to be long-term investments in case the tide turns and someday they're illegal again. The aluminum ones should be thought of as disposable, so I might have a half-dozen... but the super **** titanium units won't ever be "cheap" simply because of the cost of material and machining time required. Just for the tube and endcaps, you're in for $200... baffles can run you anywhere from $20 up to another $300 or so.
There are currently only about a dozen companies actually making solvent-trap stuff, with only 4 or 5 that make good stuff. Diversified Machine and SDTactical are the 2 major "good ones", while there are another half-dozen that only make the cheaper aluminum and some steel kits.
As the HPA starts getting traction in Congress, and as it gets within a few weeks of passing, stock will disappear across the board. When it finally hits the Presidents desk, there will be nothing out there to actually buy, and it will take months for production to catch up, if not a year. In the meantime, there will be dozens of startups and there will be an explosion in the manufacturing of cheap suppressors. Firearms manufacturers and retailers will start giving away cheap suppressors with gun purchases (like they do in lots of other countries)... industry will be in race to re-tool all their production facilities so that every long-gun comes threaded.
However... good suppressors that are designed to last, with the latest technology, made of quality metal, will never be "cheap".
Picked up a new toy for Christmas... well, actually I ordered it in November, but it showed up a couple of weeks ago, so after I shot it, I wrapped it up and put it under the tree...
Ruger 10/22 Takedown Lite... destined to live in our camper. Very light and handy, and packages nicely in the included case. Ruger even thought to have the logo patch on velcro so it can be removed if you want to be totally discreet...
I mounted the Burris Fastfire III that came off my M&P CORE, and it's a perfect match to the gun.
Shoots nicely, though I haven't done any serious accuracy testing. It's threaded for a can, and I will definitely be getting one for it, but I'm going to wait a few months to see if HPA gets any traction (keeping my fingers crossed) Cycles Aguila Subsonic, and CCI Standard vel, but not CCI Quiet. I Haven't been able to get any other suppressor ammo to test yet.
A couple outfits are making integrally suppressed barrels for these now... that would be really cool, but depending on state laws could defeat the purpose of it being a camper gun for traveling.
