Mossy is a bit overpriced, IMO. I'd go with the Rem out of the two.

Having owned several mossbergs, I would go with the 870. I will forever love my 500 field combo, but the 870 wins for aftermarket parts and upgradability.
Now if you could find a used 590 at the same price as the 870, that would be a different story.
Before you buy either though, you should check out one of the 870 clones that Sam mentioned. That is where I would put my money.

I'm gonna say it again... for the 870's a clone is the way to go. You can get 2 guns for the price of one. The quality is there. After thousands of rounds, the only thing you'll ever notice is different is the roll mark. Do some forum searhes on the usual gun forums, people love them.

I own Mav88's and they're perfect home/field combo if money is a factor. You don't need to spend more.

I never liked the idea of putting a rail on the foregrip of a shotgun. I makes the whole assembly heavier to slide and more to get in the way when you grab it. I mount my flashlight on the magazine tube with the light positioned perfectly to be activated by my left thumb when the slide is in the forward position. Lots of ways to skin the cat with light mounting. YOU NEED A LIGHT IF YOU'RE GOING TO USE A FIREARM FOR SELF-DEFENSE AT NIGHT IN YOUR HOME. Remember the whole rod/cone thing for night-vision, and in the dark, the last thing you want to do is kill your neighbors kid who just got drunk and crawled in the wrong window. ************* who do room-clearing in their own house at night and kill a drunk kid have to live with that the rest of their life... knowing that if they'd just had a flashlight mounted to thier gun, the kid would be alive. Get a light if you're going to leave your bedroom at night to search your house. We can talk all day about how dumb it is to leave your bedroom in the first place, but for the love of retarded drunk teenagers, get a light.

You're under $300 for all of this including your FFL fee.

EDIT: does it say ROBOT CHECK on yours too, something funky about linking these from the boat server?
Rail, 5-position barrel/magazine mount:
Robot Check Robot Check

Mount, generic offset ringside mount, or OLight M-series offset mount (same thing) :
Robot Check Robot Check

Light, Streamlight Polytac 88860:
Robot Check Robot Check

Gun: plenty to choose from, all in stock, free shipping... don't forget to "make offer"... I paid $204 shipped a couple years ago for my 18.5". Mossberg 500 barrels interchange and so do stocks. Foregrips do not interchange, you're stuck with the stock one. Otherwise the only difference is a bolt-safety in front of the trigger vice a thumb safety on top of the receiver.

^Yep.
It's not your boat's server, it's amazon. The links still work though.

I've responded to a home where a 16 y/o teenager got beat up for climbing through the wrong window. He thought it was his g/f house, he was a block off.

I'm on the fence between the H&R Pardner or mav 88? This will mostly be a HD shotgun for the wife while I'm away. Just from reviews, the mav seems a tad more civilized.

Mossy500 barrels are plug&play for the Mav88. 870 barrels will fit the H&R, but you need to make a spacer for the magazine... for that reason alone, I wouldn't buy one unless I absolutely loved the ergonomics more and it was significantly cheaper.

Here's what the DIY spacer looks like, I don't think anybody actually sells one:

You are posting at a rate of one a minute. What are you trying to sell?

Got my new Uncle Mikes Submachine Gun case for my pistol today:

It has six small pockets for 9mm Uzi mags or whatever so I took a razor blade and cut every other seam out to make three large pockets. Works great for thee 30 round AK mags now (that is a 20 rounder in the pistol).

H&R 72312 Pardner Pump Protector 5+1 12ga 18.5" $162.00 SHIPS FREE

Great deal... when buying from Buds, I order online and then hit the Post Office for a money order and mail it off... that way I can pay cash and the wife doesn't find out! In 3 times that I've ordered from them, my gun has been shipped the same day they received my check.

Also, am very likely making a portcall in Turkey... anybody have any recent (in the past few years, like since 2010) with Huglu shotguns?

Also ordered another part for my AR10... went with the MAGS EFX-A1. Still remaining... lower, barrel, BCG, charging handle. I'm also still going round and round on scopes. I'd really like to get into a variable 24x FFP, but even the Vortex's are over $1000. I think I'm gonna end up with the SWFA 12x like I've been planning from the beginning.

Sam, check out the Bushnell tactical series. It sounds like sacrilege, but they have been making some really high quality and well received scopes the last few years. Cheaper than vortex and arguably better. I think you can get them on sportsmansguide and use four pay.

^I'm with you. They do have some nice stuff and their fixed 10x is a fantastic deal at $200. I'm still totally on the fence about what kind of scope I want... fixed medium magnification or variable. I absolutely want mil-dot with zero-reset turrets, but past that, I'm all over the place. FFP would be nice, but the price goes up pretty quick. The SWFA 3-15x would be perfect, but I'm not sure I want to spend $700.

Bought another RPK AES-10B (this is my 3rd one - sold the last two) this morning and two 75 round drum mags. Thinking of building a custom carrying case to house the RPK and M92 with some mags. Might be a pretty cool project.

Picture of the last one I sold:

So now that I've got almost all the "little" parts for my new AR10, both Palmetto State and Aero Precision hit the ground running with their new products. The PSA uppers look to be a fantastic deal as depending on the barrels, which are undoubtedly FN, but nobody has put out a review yet. Aero is selling a couple complete lowers, on with Magpul parts.

I still don't think I would buy a production complete upper like the ones PSA is selling because of what I'm going to do with my gun, but if I was interested in plinkin/fun/HD gun, it would be a no-brainer.

Still out on cruise, but plan is to hit Turkey for a portcall on the way home... gonna pick up at least one shotgun, maybe 2 if the price is right.

At that price, $95 for a DIY lower ($40 stripped lower + $55 lower parks kit), $265 for an economy complete upper...

Slap em together, and you've got a rifle. $360 + shipping + FFL fee for the stripped lower.
