I'm without a Miata currently, but my family has 3 that I still work on. Built a 01 Miata challenge street class car for a buddy over Christmas. If I ever get another one it will be an 01+, 170whp NA, exige seats, dd, track -----. Currently driving a Boss 302 and tracking buddies Miata's.

aww, that sucks.
why?
and what platform currently interests you?
so damn true for my 1st year with a turbo miata.
Then I finally did everything right and ended up with a turbo miata that didn't require wrenching on/tuning every weekend.

Crappy cold starts, wondering why the ECU was flaking out, tuning, playing with the map, crying, telling others and getting told that my/their map is too conservative and they needed to be baller and run another 10* advance, always having something to tweak.
A turbo spooling up makes up for all of the above crap.
That's about it.

Y no turbo?
Hell, no 'Yata yet.
Life happened. Or, stalled. Or... IDK.
Plans when I signed up here were a V8 MX. Still are, just back-burnered for now.
Will no be turbo or coerced breathing. No shexxcy I noes, but oem reliability and 'cheap' parts/donors are looking good to me nowadays. Only looking for 250-280 horzes.
NA sucks, turbos blow... But if I had the green...
Joined here due to better info on the aspects of these li'l cars regarding chassis, suspension, brakes and electrical. More informative than M.net. It's like Corner-Carvers vs StreetKias.net.
Hoping to acquire an MX later this year. We'll see. Home AC has just asked for a bundle o' cash. One thing after another.

When I first got my Miata in '04, every F/I Miata I had a ride in was not well built. Everyone was still using piggybacks (Powercards, 5th injectors, EMB, etc), Greddy kits converted to bolt on to the NB1 and NB2.
Most of these cars were either too rich, had massive timing removed even from idle (ie base timing retarded by 6*), so they didn't impress me much.
I would def not go the route I am going if I had driven a properly turboed Miata back then.

I cant seem to get rid of my turboz...
had my autotragic miata for years now, blew the valve seals, ran into money troubles... parted out.
...now that the valve seals are replaced, its back to a uncool intercoolerless straight across band-aid low PSI (5psi) turbo setup, but it sure as hell better than stock.
Also got myself another toy this year, my 91' supra turbo, which has basically pushed the miata to be my wife's DD, which in my eyes is sexy as hell. She cant drive a stick so unfortunately im keeping it autotragic and being hipster about it. Going to go directly back to my original setup (MS, MTX wideband, intercooler, T28, etc.)
Realistically it wouldnt take much to make my miyater back to its prime state, just a cool 600-700 bucks since I kept my walbro pump, 460cc injectors, mallory AFPR, box of random aluminum piping, and old ugly *** but functional 2 1/2" downpipe.
I also have a boosted go-kart, of which I really really need to update my thread if its still here.
I have plans for our bronco as well, thinking on a boosted 5.0 for its engine bay, since my cummins diesel idea was shot to the ground by the damn DMV.
BOOST EVERYWHERE!!
Except for my awkward lexus ES300.

I'm on my third Miata right now. First one was supercharged and then turboed, second one was turboed 3 times before going V8, keeping stock(ish) drivetrain on current one for budget reasons.

I've slowly been collecting parts (I've had my car a year and a month) - I made a nice spreadsheet of it all a few weeks ago.
My next big purchase is suspension parts - I am confident that I will have an na car running on ms with all my suspension and brakes done this summer. I kinda got distracted by guns along the way and spent some money on them as well. Now I've also had to start a new job and take on a lot more hours and my daily (P5) has fubar suspension I've got to fix.
I should be able to complete a goal of having the car running on churbo by next summer (stock block). I hope to pick up a 2nd motor by then and build it in order to move on to a bigger turbo down the road...

Sell your motor on cr.net and build a forged lower compression motor + turbo with monies collected from the retard, I mean sucker, erm, buyer of your motor with no out of pocket expense!
