What happens when your car stands out
#21
I'm still living off the fame of a car I built 7 years ago <G>. I don't even have a Miata now but I still manage to squeeze into conversations about turbos and visit this dump on a daily basis. Anyway, one day I will buy someone's project and start a thread about it here. I dare one of you bastards to make fun of me!

Really? From my research I can build one for half of what it would cost to buy one premade. Any of the V8 Miatas I'd actually want (No Fords, no carbs, no ground-clearance-limited 4x4s, no example that looks like it was assembled in a trailer park, etc.) are in the mid 20k range.
Unless you're looking at some of the lesser examples or if you're budgeting 40-50k to do it yourself...

Care to share your 30k wish list? I'm guessing it includes buying the actual car, plus suspension etc. that's already done our cars.
I'm looking at 12k, that's with V8R components, Getrag, 00-02 LS1 T56 (I plan to buy a full car as a donor), etc. It'll hopefully be closer to 7-8k net expenditure by the time I sell off the turbo 4-banger stuff.
Reenlistment bonuses are sweet, especially when you get them tax-free

I only remembered the car when he mentioned fast colt. Until then I had no idea who he was or what he drove. I mean, he's still a noob ad he has nothing in his sig.
