Turbo miata rivals?

Turbo miata rivals?
I've been doing a LOT of research on turboing my 92 and trying to come up with the best solution for my skills/price range. Been in contact with Jeremy at FM and getting quotes and tips. FM is very helpful.
I've narrowed my options down to three:
the FMII kit plus other upgrades and w/e
BUY a miata from the forum guys here that's already had done to it what I want to do to mine ( I want a 250 whp street car for dd and fun if possible)
buy a comperable car.
So my question is this: For the price range (10k max ) are there any other cars out there that can compete with a turbo'd out super miata that's hitting 250whp?
I'm not sure if i'm making sense or w/e so opinions and what not are greatly appreciated.

- Great for "bolt on" ease of installation, high quality and great customer service.
- Almost always the most cost effective option, if you do your homework and don't buy a complete basket case.
- It depends on your end goals and use of the vehicle, but very probably, no. [i]Maybe[/] someone else's WRX project (but keep spare gearboxes sitting around) or a very well done DSM (which is incredibly rare).

come buy mine for 8500 and I'll do the timing belt, water pump, and address the rock-chipped front bumper with a like-new one with fresh paint.
you can have all the original parts and a twin plate clutch too.

oh my turbo setup doesn't need instructions on how to rock.
I recently nuked my photo albums but I salvaged some older ones:

it's been updated since.
some more oldness:
Miata Turbo Forum - Home to the Turbo Miata - y8s's vBGarage
examples: hydra is now MS3x, clutch is now FM level 1, TEINs no longer have EDFC since I never used it. etc. etc.

A lot of us would prefer the Miata for a fun dd, but $10k could buy or build faster cars. For a d.d. platform with high overall potential 92-00 Civics can be very fast for $10k (FailAIDS wheel drive, ricer stigma & theft just to begin listing drawbacks). Less daily-able from a running cost standpoint (tires, fuel, insurance etc) would be a V8 car (Mustang, F-body, swapped car, etc). However, an old/cheap domestic platform would use more of the $10k making the suspension unshitty. I saw DSM mentioned, as well as how hard finding a proper running one is. Bugeye WRX's (02-03) & early C5 Corvettes can be found for under $10k, but there wouldn't be enough $$ left to make them faster than a 250 whp Miata.
But all this is rampant BS'ing, go find a local with a ~250 whp Miata & ask for a ride. In my opinion, it's funner than every car I've listed while retaining the ability of being very daily-drivable.
