Default picked up a daily driver over the weekend

(not mine, but the same with white door handles)

I did pretty well on the deal. Its a really slow 2.5, but it gets 30mpg. They wanted $8900 to start, KBB is $7800, I talked them to $6300 out the door. I just spent $850 on suspension, tires, brakes, and belts, but now its good to go for another 100k miles. The headgaskets do not leak...yet. I scored a 90 day warranty too that covers it withing the price I payed.

I was planing on picking up a MSProtege, but I decided to go this route for the extra storage and the awd action in case I end up with a snowboard on the roof.

However with another 30hp or so, I wouldn't complain. I still need to change all the fluids, then run it through the gravel.

It's hideous. But practicality comes with a price.

I've got an '03 Outback that's the kid hauler. I'm selling my 411whp Forester XT and just living with the OB as the daily driver. They're good crap weather cars and the interior ain't bad either. Some times ya just gotta get from pt. A to pt. B.

I think it's far from hideous- surely he could've done worse. And absolutely practical. Save the mod funds for the Miata and keep this one stock and dependable.

Yeah, the leather litterally looks brand new. I'm not talking "it looks good for 7 years old," it looks like it just rolled off the dealer lot new. I'm pretty happy with it, and it should prove to be more reliable than my vw's were. Now I can go pick up that rear end swap, rather than pay my father to do it.

Anyone want a heavily modified 1997 jetta?
