Motorola Droid
Anyone have one?
I read some reviews on them and watched a couple videos and they seem pretty sweet. I would hop on the iPhone bandwagon but the service through ATT kills that idea.
I need to get a new phone, seeing that I unintentionally threw my RAZR against the wall and broke both the inside and outside screens. I'm a ****. And now I use my phone everyday, way more than I ever used to, so I figured if I'm going to get a new one why not upgrade to something like the Droid.

I seem to have service everywhere but inside buildings. (AT&T) But inside many buildings I just hop on the WiFi.
Other smart phones can do a lot now but I still like my iPhone because it is ubiquitous (so there are tons of apps and everyone knows how to use it) and I believe it's still unmatched in foreign language support.

I'll be heading to the Droid or the Eris soon. Go feel them out though. I love the Droid screen... but the Eris was actually nice due to lighter/smaller profile.
OR.... wait it out for the Nexus One Google phone. From reviews... AND from talking with a friend who is actually testing one... its worth waiting for.

I have a spare RAZR that I bought by mistake. I got it to replace mine, but its a pay as you go phone, mine is Verizon. So today I'm going to take them both apart and see if I can swap the internals to the new shell. Not being able to read texts, incoming calls, or the phonebook is just ******* me right up.

I run the G1.. love android and I am a phone nerd. That being said.. I wouldn't get the droid simply due to the cost of verizon. I went to TMobile for the g1 a year ago could not be happier (granted I live near DC). Where I do not get service.. I can cross onto AT&T's networks.
For more information, check out androidguys.com or phandroid.com. I'm VERY interested in the Nexus One phone (supposed to be released 1/5/10).

I have the droid. Its pretty sweet. The screen lag improved a lot with the latest update. Its the internet at my finger tips wherever i go. The only downside is the cost of service. Verizon sucks your money. i pay 120 a month for 1 phone. While my brother pays 130 a month for 2 iphones. The data usage is a required extra 30$ a month. Then unlimited texting and 450 minuets/month. And phone insurance. Plus all the government taxes and fee's bullshit. I almost **** a brick when i saw the statement. Still dont know if im gonna keep it.

Nexus one is GSM only, aka T-mobile or AT&T,**** verizon lol
but as of right now its only setup for T-mobiles 3G network. not AT&T
rumored release date it in early January.
I love how Verizon markets everything, here at T-mobile we've had Android phones for over a year now, currently selling 4 different models with android. (g1, mytouch, moto cliq, and Samsung Behold II) But verizon gets a hold of one and markets it as its the only Android phone in the world, its the 1st of its kind blah blah blah. and its not.

I have verizon... can't go with another company as no one else has ANY service here and Verizon coverage is amazing.
No point in getting a phone (if these things are even phones anymore) if I can't make calls.
this is my badass phone which I can't seem to break no matter what:
win.

I have the droid, i get away with only a 79 dollar bill. And i never have an issue with minutes because verizon allows you to have google voice on your phone. So i make probably 50% of my outgoing calls with google voice. (basically voip on the cellphone). You can also send/receive texts with google voice on the droid.
Also the droid was the first android 2.0 phone (and i think it is still the only one with 2.0 except the nexus one which is sporting 2.1).

it blows my mind that so many people have ATT service problems.
I stream internet music on my 20 mile commute with almost no issues.
are you all iphone owners?
my sony ericssons have always been ****.

I have had a droid since launch day. I have also been a verizon subscriber for as long as I have had a cell phone and Verizon has never given me a reason to want to switch providers. So far I have been extremely happy with the droid. I have actually convinced 3 or 4 friends to switch from the iPhone to the Droid and none of them have missed the iphone.
As for choosing between the droid and the Eris I would go with the droid. Running android 2.0.1 is much nicer then running android 1.6. This weekend I will probably try the hack to upgrade to Android 2.1.

Vash, what carrier do you have?
Why not jailbreak an iphone and use it with another carrier, one with better service where you live?
Edit:
This might help you out:

Edit #2, i just read it, apparently its not possible with your carrier? I dunno, look into it more.

Same, stream Pandora on my 26 mile commute, and 30 mile commute to my girlfriend's. Everywhere actually. iPhone. Apparently the NY coverage for AT&T sucks. Here in Oregon it's awesome. There's some mountain ranges where there's no signal, but that's for everyone.
P.S. I hate the droid ads. They make it out to be a ground breaking phone.
"the droid has a huge screen." So does the iPhone.
"the droid has access to thousands of apps." So does the iPhone.
"the droid, DOES." What exactly? Everything the iPhone does? Ever since the O.S. on the iPhone was updated with copy/paste and picture messaging (among other things), I can think of no reason to switch, mine's been amazing.
