The Moderately Priced Whiskey Thread

Some ideas:
Jim Beam Black (might be slightly more expensive than white label?)
W. L. Weller (all 3 varieties, Special Reserve, Antique, and 12 Year, are excellent for the price)
Four Roses (even the Yellow Label is good, but the Small Batch and Single Barrel are both excellent)
Bulleit (their bourbon tends to a more peppery rye-ish flavor, less sweet than most wheat-y bourbons)
A little pricier but worth trying:
Wild Turkey Rare Breed
Black Maple Hill (a must try, if you find a bottle)

Ironically the only reason I started drinking it was to get rid of a half empty bottle that nobody would drink at my local Elks Lodge. I hated it. For some reason it started to grow on me, and now I ask for it if I am drinking whiskey at whatever bar I am inhabiting. Not many places carry it around here.

Done.
Amusing fact:
For the 2007-2010 reboot of the Care Bears franchise, Cheer Bear was voiced by the prolific Canadian actress Tabitha St. Germain.
In My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, Tabitha provides the voices of Rarity, Granny Smith, Princess Luna, Nightmare Moon, Photo Finish, Mrs. Cake, Pound Cake (infant son of Mrs. Cake), Derpy Hooves and Philomena, the pet phoenix of the tyrannical overlord Princess Celestia.
So you are now eight ponies and a dead bird.

Joe - I'm not sure if you clarified, but are you sipping these "as cheap as possible without making me go blind" bourbons and whiskeys?
If so, assuming you are drinking out of a proper glass and not a coffee cup or red Solo cup, do you drink it neat or with a bit of ice?
I like all of my drinks that are not tea or coffee-based to be cold, so I do use ice. In order to reduce the amount it gets watered down, I found these and have been using them with great success:
Just be aware that you need a proper sized Old Fashioned or rocks glass for them to fit. The one pictured with your 80 proof, $8 fifth looks like it would work. I have some less traditional glassware that they don't fit in.

For Christmas someone gave me a set of those granite "ice cubes" that you freeze and then use in place of ice to chill your drink without watering it down. Haven't used them yet. I like my scotch room temperature with a couple drops of water, and my bourbon with one or two small ice cubes depending on the proof.

To be fair, I have been tempted to use an airplane-style disposable plastic cup for some of these cheaper whiskeys.
Neat.
I prefer most of my drinks to be served at room temperature, as chilling them seems to dull the flavor.
The same goes for beer as well. Not *quite* room temp, but around 55-60°F ideally. This really brings out the flavors of the drink. When I am ordering beer at a "normal" bar or restaurant, I will always ask that a room-temperature glass be provided, as opposed to the chilled glass which seems to be the default here in north America. And even then, if the beer was served from draft I will often have to let it warm up for a bit before I find it palatable.
Martinis and Rum-n-Cokes are really the only exceptions to this. I prepare rum & coke the conventional way, in a highball on the rocks, using white rum (eg: Cruzan) that has been in the refrigerator. And while I don't drink a lot of martinis, I do own a proper cocktail shaker which I use to prepare them straight up, and I will typically pre-chill the glass with ice water prior to pouring.
Sure, I'm open to anything, just somewhat limited as to supply. My local supermarkets don't have much of a whiskey selection at all, and BevMo (imagine a liquor store the size of a small Wal-Mart) doesn't really stock bottom-shelf spirits.

Well, to be fair, consider that my only complaint about BevMo is that, for the most part, they only stock good beer and liquor.
That's not exactly the sort of thing that would NORMALLY be considered a problem.

I've found that if I cannot drink something neat at room temp I don't bother. It might be the most expensive and the best thing in the world but if I have to water it down or ice it you can keep it.

I mentioned Kentucky Gentleman earlier, but I had only had a sip a few months ago. Well I bought a liter ($10.42 w/ tax) and tried it again to make sure I wasn't leading anyone astray. It's awesome. Its not the kind of bourbon/whiskey/blend that you sip alone and contemplate; its a social drinkers perfect bourbon. Its cheap because of its lack of depth as opposed to most alcohol, which is cheap because it tastes like ****. This means you can drink it without having to think about it and you wont cringe (kind of like an American macro beer). This is why its a social drink: cheap, easy to drink, general bourbon taste and nothing else.

(Well, not literally right at this exact moment. I'm at work right now, so I'm drinking beer. The whiskey is for when I get home.)

I think we are making $19.99 per fifth (750mL) the high-end cutoff for this thread. Anything over that belongs in the Drinking Like a King thread.
