Miata Meet Virginia - Bad Weather???
Tomorrow is the big meet in Fredericksburg. I've been looking at several weather sites and aviation planning sites... they all seem to think it's going to be in the mid 30's all day with freezing rain and snow starting around mid-day.
It's 2hrs from Virginia Beach and I'm not sure I can justify the drive from a safety standpoint. DAMN!!! Why can't this be one of the 70* weekends we've had lately???
If anything, it's reminded me that I need to put my stock wheels back on. They're wearing brand new Falken Ziex 512's that are probably a better choice than my Helium w/Proxes T1-R's for general winter driving.
I'm still hoping for a change in the forecast, but if it stays this shitty, I won't go.

I decided it's just not safe in the Miata. I'm San Diego raised and snow is like Kryptonite... that just means I'll have to bring the new Mazdaspeed 6!!!! Whoo Hoo!!!! AWD and snow!!! I'll be there!!!
Besides... as you'll see in another post, I just took the Miata's turbo off and it's not going back on for a few days.

The wife finally got tired of me having all the turbo fun. I originally wanted a Mazda 6 Wagon w/5spd. But I was told it's a special order and I have to get it fully loaded and I hate the new ******* navigation systems that are being installed in everything. I can't wait until the first real statistics come out regarding accidents caused by people looking at their screens and not the road... but I digress. Regardless, they wouldn't sell me a stripper 5spd wagon no matter what.
Well, the wife hates wagons and so I settled for a hatchback... but none of the dealers in town had any leftover 2006 5spd hatches w/V6... but plenty in the 4cyl. Neither of us wanted the 4cyl.
So... out of the 3 Mazda dealerships in Hampton Roads, there were 11 leftover 2006 Mazdaspeed 6's as of two weeks ago. This particular one had been there since July w/no takers. We went back three times to our favorite pick of the three dealers and slowly over a week wore them down to $25,500 OTD from a sticker of $32k. It's a GT, loaded with every option possible except the NAV. I could have gotten a loaded Sport (no sunroof or leather) for about $22k out the door, but if we were gonna do it, then I wasn't skimping.
Anybody want to buy a 2002 Celica GT w/75k miles, wife driven and bone stock. It's a 9/10 condition. 30mpg city, 35hwy, decent power. Perfect for a kid going to college or commuter.
