Last night my gf got a card in the mail that said adopt 1 kitten get 1 free. So we headed out to the petsmart that was working with the animal shelter to get them all adopted. They tell us 1 kitten is $50 or 2 for $95. So we only left with one little new fur ball.

For a kitten!? I've got a special going on at my house right now. Buy one, get 9 free. The first one is on the house.

Sorry I can legally only own 12, would you be willing to do buy 1 get 8 free?

Fixing + initial shots will run you more than it costs to adopt around here. Being over 50, I get a massive discount if I adopt a cat over 4 years old; they call it senior to senior adoption. Last guy I got, they gave him to me for free, but I tossed them some money as a "donation".

When I got my 3 boys back in February, it was $125 for the fixed kitten, then $50 for the 2 adult brothers because I was willing to keep them together.

Really if I get another cat I want it to be an orange female kitten. They had none of those so I did not leave with one.

I don't have to buy cats; they just show up and never leave.

My neighbors get upset when I try to "adopt" their outside cats.

That is exactly what has been happening at my place. They show up in my shop and just never leave. The crazy thing is that they're really nice cats for the most part. I found another new batch of kittens this morning. Two twin tiger cats showed up pregnant and they each had a litter of three kittens this week.
3 momma tiger cats + 3(3 kittens) + Asshole + plus White Tom = too many fucking cats!!!

I think we paid $40 for Nimbus at 8 months old.

I spent $40 on my gallons of Nature's Miracle Barf Cleaner and Urine Destroyer. This is a frequent, recurring expense.

I'm pretty sure that most of the cats that move in have no good home.

Right now I have two. Lemon is <2 yr old male that moved in March 2013. It was almost a year before he let me get close enough to pet him. It's not that we had nothing to do with each other; we were totally friends, just the kind of friends that kept a few feet of space between us. Now he's lovey and trust me completely.

George is 8 month old female that showed up April of this year. I call her George because the look on her face reminds me of a certain ex-president. She let me pet her for the first time Wednesday! She has a huge crush on Lemon right now, but once she decides that I can be trusted... we'll see.

One of my neighbors gets barn cats but makes them stay outside and really doesn't care for them. I believe both Lemon and George came from the same barn.

Pookie is a Persian, so he wasn't cheap...

BlackBandit 06-21-2014 02:11 PM

My siamese was rescued by me and jeanne in an apt. Complex I used to live in. The owners moved out and let her fend for herself. She was a kitten then. She already had a litter when we took her in. We didn't search for the litter to save our hearts from breaking. We don't think they made it.

So melvin, the kitty-bro I was talking about in the above posts, is hanging on, he's decided he's not ready to leave us, I just really hope he isnt suffering.
