Sure it just wasn't the owners cats? It gets lonely in bookstores.

It was an SPCA sanctioned shelter. All but one of the cats were available for adoption. I remember one that nobody wanted; it would punch you if you close enough. It even looked mad all the time. Should've taken a photo of it.

There are cat shelters all over the place full of lonely cats. Why not combine them with stores or restaurants?

Here is my first addition to the Cat Thread...

Woke up in the middle of the night to what sounded like someone breaking in the house! Scared the shit out of us. Went to living room and found Haley determined to get under the ottoman. Carefully looked under the ottoman and found the mouse which was then spooked and ran right next to her.. she quickly earned her murder cat badge.

She was pretty proud of herself after that.

You had a mouse...in your house?!

ahaidet 01-29-2014 02:33 PM

It was warm for a few days before and was cooling off again. Earlier that day we returned from grocery shopping. When we were carrying things in we had the back door open for ~15mins. I think it slipped in the house then. We never found any evidence of it in the house before or after: no droppings, no nests, etc.

We've had cats in the house for years so any mice that got in would have been short lived.

We have no mice. The rats eat them.

ive only lived in my house for about 6 months and I have already killed 4 mice in my shed. Anyone know how to keep those fuckers out? The neighborhood is already full of raccoons and cats.

At my old house (nearly 100 with a crawl space), yeah, it was tough to get rid of them.

Until we got a cat, never saw droppings/damaged food boxes again.

Same things at our current house, if the aren't eating/pooping, they aren't hanging out that long.

I should have been clearer. I've had mice in the attic, but never in the actual 'house'.

I once had a cat walk in through an open door and touch my leg while I was watching TV - I almost died of a heart attack, lol. Adopted two cats a few months later.

I keep wishing this will happen to me.

seal up any holes bigger than 1/4". catch and release everything inside with traps or the ol paper towel tube + bucket trick.

Make a No-Kill Mousetrap with a Toilet Paper Roll

interesting sidenote factoid: it is illegal in most states to kill an animal with blunt force trauma (i.e. a brick).
