Bought an automated pooper scooper. Cost was 140ish on amazon after taxes. Initial review.. the gap between the bottom/sides of the pan and the scooper are huge. Maybe 1/2-3/4" per side which I'm sure will leave poop. The other issue is the grate gaps are pretty large as well. Last but not least, the bottom has a metal bar which causes poop to get caught in the grate and won't come out.. IMO the grate should be open on the bottom so if poop does get caught, it can come out and then get picked up on the next pass.

Thanks all, we were able to pick him up before we left for vacation. Had him cremated so we could bring him home.

To add an update.. it's been about a week now. Im going to give this automatic poop scooper thumbs up. it's not 100% self care but it will eliminate a lot of the scooping you gotta do. Tiny pieces still get left out in the corners and pee doesnt always get picked up since it gets stuck to the bottom of the pan but overall it will collect most of the poops. I'd say 70-80%. The reason why i got this and not the rotating drum ones is simply because i don't have the space for one.
