The kitten & cat thread

^Can't think of it like that... think of it like... "I get older, they stay the same age."
Every 6-8 weeks somebody rolls up to the house while I go for walk. When I get home, the same kittens are there... they all lost some weight and changed colors, but it's the same ones.... repeat forever.
It would be different for dogs... can't be fostering a litter of terriers and come home from a walk and find greyhounds ... doesn't work, clearly these are different dogs. But kittens just look like kittens. Fostering is the best deal going.

She continually asks for more animals, I've told her we are the club, max capacity. 1 in, 1 out.

Never thought of an IR lamp (is that something that most people just naturally have lying around?) But the heating pads that you might use for muscle sprains and the like work wonders not merely for cats, but also for old, feeble dogs.

My wife is using the IR lamp for a sprained wrist twice a day right now. It's good for warming outside plants that may be sensitive to frost, too. We're on that border of never seeing frost just south of us and seeing 4-8 freezing nights a winter so some of the plants are in danger every year. It is a 250 watt bulb.

KMiata has an office cat! Our machinist needed to move her out of their house and so we adopted her. Her name is Ember and she stays in the office area and shipping room. We keep her out of the shop and away from all equipment. She is the most chill and fun cat to have around and she loves attention. She always wants to sit on your lap, on your desk, or at our table during our meetings. A+ decision to bring her in.

The struggle is real. I've been quite allergic to cats & dogs since pretty much forever. Been on allergy shots for the past two years. I did two dog-tests this past weekend, and miraculously, it would seem that I am almost not allergic to dogs. My last cat-test was about a year ago, and there was still quite a reaction. I need to arrange for another cat-snuggling.

Amusing story:
Stray cat wanders into the office of the OAB (Brazilian equivalent of ABA, American Bar Association) seeking shelter during a rainstorm. Cat decides he likes it there, and decides to stay. People start complaining about the presence of a stray cat inside the building near the reception desk. Solution? Director of OAB hires the cat as an employee. His name is Leon Advogato (advogato means advocate in Portugese, which is what lawyers are called in many countries. And, of course, gato is Portugese for cat), and official job title is watchman, depite having been granted an honorary doctorate degree.
