That's actually one of the reasons I keep the car registered in Mtn.View. I'm sure the plate number is online from old photos even though I remove it from all the new ones I take, but the address I keep the car at isn't the one it's registered at anyway.
I keep thinking about a Hagerty policy, though.

Patrick Lull quoted me $500/year for a $13,000 theft/weather/fire gap coverage over my standard comprehensive policy with state farm. It does not cover for collision, but everything else. Basically, insurance for a racecar, off the track. After what I went through with the VW disappearing one day, I'm happy to pay that for my miata. Hagerty would not provide coverage to me because I drive it more than 5k miles per year, and it goes on the track so they won't cover it period.
Just because its registered somewhere else doesn't mean someone can't follow you around.

It happens. My '92 came with a hardtop and the dr. window was busted out of it when I got it...the hardtop had been stolen and recovered, that was the third time the top had been stolen (and recovered obviously) according to the PO. I don't leave my miata anywhere unattended for extended periods of time unless it's under lock and key in my garage.

Hagerty said they didn't have a mileage cap, but I had to be insured as primary on another car. They also didn't really like the rollbar. That $500/yr for the $13k theft/fire rider is exactly what I have been looking for, though. I don't really care if I wad it up since I'm just going to buy a shell and swap over, but those two scare the **** out of me. Do you remember if it covers being stolen from grocery store parking lots, or only if it's stolen from storage?
