Even then, my pins hold my shoes on there really really well. only upgrade for me (I think) would be clipless.
Sure weight can be lighter than my aluminum ones but mine are serviceable and I re-grease them after rides that I cross streams or when you can feel any kind of grittiness from a free spin. Nylon doesn't sound very durable, but im sure its fine.
I will be using flats on my road bike for the time being, im cheap right now LOL.

I've liked the Nylon pedals for MTBing cause they don't cat h on rocks as much. I don't make a habit of bashing them, but it happens. The Pins/Spikes are little nuts/bolts on my Diety's and are serviceable as well. The small metal ones that came on it would catch a rock and almost take the pedal out from under you. The wife didn't think she needed pedals until I got her a set like mine. She wined cause she didn't think pedals would make a difference. She has since shut up. Only mods on our bikes are the pedals. Love em. Very grippy on shoes not on rocks. They play a really nice balance of that, plus light, plus pretty, plus cause.
Edit: I should add they aren't cheap Wallyworld pedals. They have a metal shaft and bearings all the way through them. You'd have to really try to break on off and I think you'd break the crank first.
