If FEMA had the bicycles, would it fund Hustler's manlet bib?

I lived in Boston for a year and a half in the 80's. Commuted on a 5 speed beach cruiser with mountain bike tires and BMX bars through one winter. Just work boots, Jeans, flannel shirt, thermal underwear, beanie and cheap parka. I recall busting through snow banks to avoid being squashed by cars and trucks. Riding over frozen bridges with the wind howling. Rolling out for my 6 mile commute at 7am, riding home in the dark, in similar weather. Fun but.. hard.

Rule 9. The fact that you live in a place without weather means you can never be this hard-core.
See my earlier thread, re: which brake pads work best when covered in snow and ice? That wasn't for giggles.
Oh, and update: the Swisstop pads do in fact suck less than the grey matters, but when the rim is wet and freezing, they still suck. I am beginning to suspect that all you folks who were telling me that rim brakes are just as good as disc brakes (if not better) have either never ridden a bike with disc brakes, or have never ridden a bike in the rain / snow.
Well, it's kind of the nature of my business- you go where the work is, and for me right now, that's New York.
Yup. I loved living in SoCal. North San Diego county is just the best.

In CA a drought year always means fast and dangerous racing.
On a side note, just finished a 3 week training block. Feel like I got hit by a truck. Last day was 80+ miles, supposed to spend 2.5hrs at 300-320w. Had a friendly sprint on the way back, hit over 1400w twice for 10 seconds each, with 20 seconds in between. Also got to meet TeJay from BMC, nice guy.

Decided Im going to try my hand at framebuilding once I get done with the two hotside parts Im welding up now.
Going to build a 2x10 version of my inspiration bike:
Damon's Death Mobile by 44 Bikes Archive, on Flickr
The lines, colors (or lack of), brakes, etc. All makes an unreal looking package.
Being that its my first frame im thinking of building it in either mild or stainless, but an aluminum frame would be nice too...just more difficult for a first frame.
