Any chance that "hot low" is also hot when on high?

Poking around with a basic induction pen shows the following:
Off: white, orange, red wires all hot
Fan low: red & orange hot
Fan high: orange & white hot

Pro tip:

When installing a 4 port boost control valve, make sure you do not cross the pressure lines going to the top and bottom chambers of your wastegate.
Otherwise you suddenly realize you have all of it all the time, and tiptoe your way back to the garage keeping the car under 1500 rpm.
Hitting that brick wall called boost cut (24 psi) at far less than 50% throttle is not pleasant.

Yes, EBC was turned off at the time, but the solenoid was diverting all pressure to the top chamber, sealing it at its shuttest position.
Shuttest is a word. It means shut very very tightest.

A friend just asked me how to get the local team's baseball games for his grandparents even though Frontier dropped Fox Sports from their package. The grandparents are not particularly tech-savvy but do have a computer, a laptop, and a Roku. Hulu live has Fox Sports Florida in its package for $55 a month but that sounds like a lot of coin for old people to watch a little baseball. Anyone got some bright ideas? I didn't know what to tell the guy.

That's the easy button. I have Hulu specifically to watch Thunder games and F1.

Everything else is going to be a PITA for them.

https://www.mlb.com/live-stream-games 25$ for the rest of the season if baseball is all they want, but the local blackout clause might bite them in the ***. Not sure if the blackout area is geolocated or credit card driven.

Last month, the truck started shifting really hard (autotragic tranny). Took it to the dealer, as my trusted place really didn't want to mess with it. Cost me big bucks to get the tranny lines replaced (rust belt issues). Lately, the exhaust has started getting loud, but only when cold. After it warms up, it's still a bit louder, but tolerable. Get under it tonight, expecting to need expensive, pain-in-the-*** parts to replace. Turns out, the boneheads at the dealer left off the bolts holding the tailpipe to the mid pipe. Since I already had hardware from having to replace Miata cat, it was fixed in about 5 minutes.

What has the world come to when you can't expect decent service from a "respected" dealer after paying premium prices? Is everyone under 30 incompetent these days?

Yes.

I sent out and paid $90 for cleaning and benching a set of 8 injectors. It took phone calls for three days to get one number, the ******* flow rate, because it was on a computer and it was across the shop. When I finally got an e-mail, I noticed they determined this by filling the 100mL cylinders on the bench to 10mL on both the pre and post cleaning test and stopping there, juuust enough to see the first graduation on the measuring device. They are flabbergasted at my displeasure at seeing this and can't fathom why I'm irate...

It also took a full week just to run them, when it was supposed to be ready to pick up the very next day.

People bring cars worth way too much money to this shop and let them have their way with em, amazing...

Geolocated.

But in that case, can they not pick up the game OTA?

A given team will play four or five nights a week and I don't think they broadcast most of them on the local ota stations. The geolocation thing could probably be avoided with a vpn and the laptop hooked to the tv via hdmi cable but these are old people...

You have no idea.

The talent pool for skilled trades so unbelievably small. The pay rate for said trades is pathetic. You get what you get.

When it comes to wrenching for a living by the time you get good...
You have a real bad attitude regarding things the dealership wants you to do that will NOT help the customer.
You either go over fully to the dark side and have no scruples about what you are doing; you focus on simply gaining the greatest number of hours per week.
Or
You end up working for yourself and open your own shop.
I've been wrenching for nearly 40 years and I will NEVER work for anyone else again.
I once ran 99 hours in a single day at a Mazda dealer in Denver.
No "flat rating" (cheating) at all...
Although my wife was helping me (doing paperwork and minor things)
So it was sort of cheating...
The IRS took 50% of it...

Part of what annoys me so much is the fact that they estimated one price, and gave a time estimate. Then they called a day later to request more time. Okay, I get it, things are rusty and a pain in the ***. But they charged me almost 50% more than the estimate and took more than twice as long. The bolts they forgot to install or tighten were just exhaust. What if they dropped the front crossmember, or the driveshaft? I can't be sure my truck isn't gonna try to kill me anymore. I thought I was past that when I dumped the damn Jeep.

I see bad technicians, I see them all the time...
They populate the chain stores and dominate the lower 75% of dealership technicians
There is only a handful (1 hand) of technicians that I will let work on my cars.
And even then I'll go back behind them (without telling them) and check their work.
If they screw up I will castigate them relentlessly.
I will commonly recheck my own work at least once before I return a vehicle to service.
I also see awesome technicians, all the time, they are on the good forums and often they are asking questions.
This is what makes them far better than the average dealership technicians.
Sometimes they make super weird stuff work far better than you might expect. Pat and godless commie are such critters.
I had a 1 hour conversation with Pat a year ago on the phone and he impressed me more than any tech has in a couple of decades.
I am VERY hard to impress.
You have a higher expectation of quality of workmanship than dealership technician that worked on your car do...
The A techs at that dealership might have "passed" on your rusty beast and you got a B or C tech by default.
A careful enthusiast will ALWAYS beat a dealership tech on quality level of work.
The dealership tech will be 4-5 times faster on the same job. This is all they care about...

Imagine that same talent pool working their way into an industrial mechanic job.
I watched a guy get his face burnt off by pure sulfuric acid a few years ago. I also watched two men get crushed by a 2 ton automatic hoist and knocked Into a tank. Fingers chopped off, multiple people. Ect. And this is just injuries. I could write a book on the poor workmanship.

Believe me, y'all haven't seen anything.

2020 strikes again. The first two weeks of September are the worst in the year for my line of work (Tax CPA), and today is D-day. Any calendar-year corporation or partnership filed after today is late and subject to heft penalties, so I've been working like mad to get everything done. Guess what happens? The electronic filing system for our software vendor goes down. Been down for a few hours, with spotty connection here and there. I was supposed to be home having dinner with my family for the first time in three weeks, but I guess that isn't happening now.
