Many (if not most) electronic devices require the user to set the appropriate time zone during the setup process.
I cannot for the life of me figure out why some UI designers insist on only including a list of world cities and not including just the name of the time zone itself. In what universe am I unlikely to know my own time zone, but somehow know which major American cities happen to fall into the same time zone as my own location? |

I think you are misinterpreting the designers' intentions. They're simply telling you that if you don't live in Buenos Aries, New York, Mexico City, Chicago, LA, London, Istanbul, etc., then you don't matter. :giggle:
New York Indianapolis Austin Phoenix Denver Los Angeles Anchorage Honolulu Sorry, Chicago. Everyone knows that Austin, TX is the most famous CST city. |
It's America's second shitty.

On the plus side, we did finally reclaim our title as murder capital of the US.

Pretty cool. Maybe they should outlaw guns there. Oh wait, they did that. I would think it would be too cold to want to go out and commit certain crimes for a few months out of the year. The cold is like kryptonite to me. |

The cold is like kryptonite to me. In regards to the murder problem - I heard something interesting the other day. Basically one theory was that when they took down the drug kingpins a number of years ago they destabilized the drug market, leading to smaller splinters of groups jockeying for territory. The current murder rate is a symptom of that new social/business order working itself out. I am not sure how true it is, but it sounds plausible. |

some? "A midwestern street gang now rules several states making up the heartland of the US, following clashes with local authorities, small scale wars and leaving a couple hundred thousand civilians murdered and executed in the wake. Enforcing their self professed borders, the street gang flies its own flag within the so-called liberated unified state, and are constantly attacking both coasts while recruiting mercenaries from the whole continent. Having gained SOME power since their days of shaking up school kids for lunch money in Bimini, the gang is now demanding the Federal Government to dissolve and hand all power to the Capital city, once known as Chicago." Here you go. ISIS, Americanized. |

At least one of them deaths was good.
Homeowner shoots 19-year-old burglar in face | abc7chicago.com HOUSTON -- A teen is in the hospital after he was shot while breaking into someone's SUV, police say. Investigators say he and two other people are likely responsible for a string of vehicle break-ins that happened overnight in the Ridgemont neighborhood in far southwest Houston. "I came outside to go to work and this is what I saw," said a man as he pointed to his driver's side shattered window. He said someone took a Bible, shuffled through papers in his center console and left a mess in the front seats. "Somebody was having fun with other peoples' property," he said. Down the street, ABC13 was there when Nicole discovered similar damage. "They took my driver's license, my credit cards, everything," Nicole said. Luckily, the thieves missed her purple gun and iPad. They took her wallet and tossed her concealed carry license and social security card in the street. "I don't know what to do," she said. "I don't know what to do." At least five cars or trucks were ransacked. The overnight crime spree ended around 3:30am. A homeowner near the corner of Hiram Clarke Rod and Ridgerod Lane said his dog started barking so he went outside to see what was going on. Police say three men were breaking into his Tahoe. The homeowner shot one of them in the face. Two others ran off. Investigators don't have a description of the two suspects that ran. As for the man shot, police found him laying in the street. He was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery. His mother tells ABC13 he's just 19 years old. |

The reason you have smash and grab crime is because of criminals. Do you also blame women for getting raped when dressed less than modest?
