OK, so maybe it did. 20 years later, I was using it.............. |
I tried about 5 different keyboards at work over the last few weeks and couldn't find anything I really liked, so I finally ordered a mechanical keyboard. It's pretty great. Reminds me of typing on the old Wyse terminals at the bookstore.

Our Network Engineer finally gave in to my whining and gave me a Catalyst 2960C switch for my desk.
Its a 8PC-L model so I get 8x 10/100 and 2x SFP or 10/100/1000 along with 124W of PoE+. While the SFPs are useless to me, I should be able to use one of the uplinks so I can get gigabit speeds to my desktop. Its massively overkill for anything I can possibly do with it, and eve if I'm stuck on 10/100 I'm happy to suffer through it simply so I have something running Cisco IOS that I can manage because I REALLY need more experience with IOS. Now I just have to clean it up (its incredibly dusty and dirty) and then figure out how to mount it under my desk. It'll be nice to have the extra ports, and I can eliminate the POE adapter for my phone. Yay! :) |

Where you been dood. Come ramble in my thread too.
Here, have some free streaming or pay-what-you-want version of the soundtrack: DEF CON 24: The Official Soundtrack | Gravitas Recordings 100% of the revenue goes to the EFF :bigtu: On a related note, I'm about 80% sure my gen1 MotoX running lollipop got owned :giggle: |
One day I am hoping to goto DefCon. I don't do anything security related at work anymore, so I can't convince them to pay for me to go out.
|
I'm not a security guy either, but I ALWAYS learn something while I'm there. When I first started attending, the con was about 4,000 people. This year it was 22,000+ so its getting FUCKING HUGE. Due to ...whatever I caught the tail end of Wednesday at the BSides conference and the talks remind me a lot of earlier, smaller DefCon. I may push to go to BSides and DC next year. This year I got to play with some live data capture using wireshark and while I've done this before, I also got to sit down with someone who actually knows what to do with a pcap file and pick their brain. I now have JUST enough knowledge to be dangerous, and I need to learn me some more python. I also went to a talk about red teaming AD and learned a whole bunch of shit about these systems are compromised, like what process is used. It gives you a lot of insight as to how to protect against such things. I've also now got a whole bag of evil tricks I'm going to perpetrate on my unsuspecting coworkers. If you trust me (lol) I can get you an ISO of disc that contains the slide decks for all the talks, and if you give me a couple months I'll point you at whatever youtube channel ends up posting the talks.
We party. And we drink. A lot. At least this year I didn't black out or vomit, so I've got that going for me, which is nice. |
suddenly I'm regretting plugging in your usb drive to my laptop when you asked to "get a copy of the tune revisions/logs"
:giggle: |
Some of my sister's friends were there @ DefCon making sounds for all to enjoy:

I spent quite a bit of time in the chillout lounge this year, plus SOMA is my go-to at work. I'm usually listening to either the Groove Salad or DEF CON Radio channel at my desk. I even gave them $100 this year :bigtu:

Joe quick, go give that guy at trump tower a trubo kitty sticker.

I saw him from Madison Ave as I walked north this evening at around 6:30. Looked like he was still at the same level as when we started covering him at 5. Some people will do anything for attention... |

Congrats Savington!
