Saw a white ND today. Looks pretty neat.

1. Rusty PPF bolts suck. Especially the rear ones after a couple of rust belt winters, which haven't been touched in 22 years.

2. ATF mixed 50/50 with acetone makes an amazing penetrating oil.

3. A floor jack handle makes the perfect cheater bar.

Oil filter me... Larger capacity experiences?

Usually just pick up K&N from vatozone, was considering picking up Wix or order an Amsoil :burncash: for the larger capacity. Oil will be Amsoil dominator 10w30.

Amsoil ea15k12 stock
Amsoil ea15k13 oversize
Wix 51365 Stock
Wix 51356 oversize

Next actual 'real' problem. I'm hearing some sort of weight shifting noises driver side. I hear it when I have the wheel turned while backing up on an incline. I can reproduce it moving the car sharply left to right. When I am doing heavy braking I hear a 'thud' noise towards the end of the hard brake. Suspension? Wheel hub? Picking up a tire iron today cause I've realized mine has gone missing, and makes the jack in my trunk useless :hatecat: . Going to lift up that side and retorque the wheel down to see if it's loose or something :dunno:

I drove my first real race car this weekend. Firesuit, HANS, containment seat, cage'd Miata, etc. It was warm in the afternoon Sat/Sun, but not quite 88.

Awesome experience, positively anxiety ridden the first few sessions from feeling like I was locked inside a coffin.

Missing jack handle is rolling around.

FYI, being a mere .82" taller, the WIX that you have listed as "oversize" is just barely that. I thought the Suby guys had a much larger Wix filter that they ran which was supposedly compatible.
Part Details vs Part Details

The red car has been doing this for a long time now.

Loose adjuster bolt allowing suspension components to move? Missing/damaged bushing someplace?

That's pretty much what I was thinking. Sounds like something associated with a control arm.

Optiplex vs duraplex vs lexan. Is there one that is low static/static free that i can use for my diy computer case?

Acrylics (eg: Duraplex) have a less negative triboelectric potential than polycarbonates (eg: Lexan), and are what you usually see used in transparent cases for electronics.

It's not like either one is especially well known for its anti-static properties, though. As a broad generalization, plastics can only be made static-dissapative, by adding materials to them that make them conductive and then bonding them to ground. But as long as you're not rubbing rabbit fur against it all the time, Acrylic isn't horrible.

Note to self: build rabbit cage out of Lexan for maximum hilarity.

First time driving around new York City today. Was not fun, ready to go back home where it just smells like chicken manure instead of diapers/puke and traffic means you have to wait to pull across the highway.

Joe Perez 04-26-2016 07:08 AM

I've lived here for about three years. I don't have a personal car at the moment, but have driven through Manhattan in company cars, usually Ford Explorers. It's definitely a unique experience.

That said, why on earth are you driving a car here? Park it in Jersey or Queens, take the train, walk, rent a Citibike, or download the bus map. :D

Anecdote:

My legs are pretty much destroyed after yesterday's workout, so I took the bus into work this morning. (The shame...)

Now, it's relatively uncommon to see grotesquely obese people in NYC. I honestly don't know why this is, whether living in NYC tends to keep people fit, or whether obesity is negatively selected for in NYC residents. Regardless, I managed to capture two fatties in a single photo this morning, which was really unusual:

The rather ample gentleman on the right had an entire 2 liter bottle of Sunkist soda tucked under his arm. I can't even begin to fathom the decision-making process which terminates with "carrying a 2 liter bottle of soda with you as personal refreshment on your morning commute is a good idea." Total calories: 1,071.

That guy is skinny to what I have seen in Mississippi, Louisiana and Florida.

Girz0r 04-26-2016 08:53 AM

Looks like a McD's victim.

Didn't NY ban sale of soda cans larger than a certain ounce? Could be reasoning due to his decisions... Sunkist, ALLTHETIME. 'merica.

No way in hell am I driving through Manhattan lol. I just had to go across the George Washington and up through Bronx and yonkers. I know its not that bad compared to other parts of the city but for a country boy it's bad enough.
