Do yourself a favor: put that thing into a large plastic can of the 55 gallon type or larger and set it out on the curb the evening before trash day. Then save up a little bit of money and go find yourself a decent air compressor.

Examples:

Next favor: realize that you're probably not going to be able to run high load tools at continuous use (such as a DA Sander/cut-off wheel/air chisel) - those things just aren't going to happen.

Next favor: when you do buy tools, buy quality tools that use less air - if your first compressor was an HF air compressor, then I suspect there's a decent chance that you have some HF Tools - in a lot of circumstances, higher cost tools are going to use less air. The lower air use is probably seemingly marginal in the grand scheme of things, but 10% less CFM for the same performance is actually huge when you're using the tool for a project lasting any longer than about 5 minutes. Also, make sure that you have quality adapters, hose to tool. If you hear a slight air hiss when everything is connected, that may seem like just a slight annoyance, but you're actually losing a significant amount of air through that little hiss. When the tool is connected but not in use and the compressor isn't running, everything should be perfectly quiet.

I've got a small horizontal-tank compressor, and the space requirement is definitely annoying, but on the occasion that I need an air compressor, It's invaluable. It's hard to clean out hard to reach crevices and fill tires without some way to compress air - the tool that gets the most use out of my compressor is the impact wrench. If I need to break out the HVLP or a die grinder, chances are I'm not going to be doing it at home.

Generally speaking, electric tools are significantly bulkier and heavier than their air equivalents. This is fine if all you're doing is taking lug nuts off/on, but if you want use it for major work then it's much easier to fit an air impact wrench into the space you need to get to the bolt, and after using it for a couple hours the lighter weight of the tool will be appreciated.

[edit] +1 on the "buy decent tools" front. My Ingersoll Rand impact wrenches are awesome. Look for used quality tools, rather than new HF crap.

I have one of those California Air compressors. Not that one above, but a much smaller unit for the basement. It's hardly silent, but two people can hold a normal conversation while it's running.

Must we speak in such absolutes?

You can have an air compressor and a rattle gun around just for those times when you have a stubborn axle nut, ya know? You're not required to use air FOR EVERYTHING just because you have it. My $89 HF 10 gallon compressor serves me just fine, and has for almost 5 years now... except that one time i tried to sandblast and paint my truck frame with it.

Anyone know how to delete a corrupted folder out of regedit?

It's preventing me from reinstalling MS Office 2013 :hatecat:

I can't even get into the permissions of it... just needs to be deleted so the installer can recreate it.

Did you login via the Administrator account? Just giving yourself 'admin' rights doesn't do it IIRC.

deezums 04-20-2016 12:42 PM

"reg delete "HKLM\Some\Registry\Path" /f" in command prompt

Or you can make a .reg file and add it, I think you can delete them like this...
"-HKLM\Some\Registry\Path" /f

I'd rather use command prompt.

Fucking new editor...

Yup.

Tried the cmd, doesn't work :(

The path I'm attempting to remove is HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\0000510911000 0000000000000F01FEC

or HKCR.

But either way, "ERROR: The system was unable to find the specified registry key or value."

I visually see it in regedit but the system is unable to pull properties on it, view it, delete it, export... but it's there.

Office installer errors out due to it when adding subkeys

deezums 04-20-2016 01:14 PM

So you are on the hidden Administrator windows account, not a named user with admin rights?

Check this here, then...

"in the registry edit, I right clicked on MSFS, and under permission, I gave myself permission and full control of it. (it's pretty easy to navigate through, just a couple advanced buttons and a FIND NOW and you'll find the administrator name or whatever name you are logged in as). click your OK's and after you're through, right click on MSFS and DELETE IT!now, do the same process with the other (2) four letter buggers (because they were the next to jump in line to block me from uninstalling office and you should be OK. "

Can you add the same key, using a .reg file? Maybe you can overwrite the glitched one so you can delete it?

Girz0r 04-20-2016 03:43 PM

Not able to give permissions, not able to create a .reg file to reload it. Gave me an error it was unable to access the registry

Going to see if I can install Office 2016 without issue :bigtu: Wish me luck.

I have an old 60 gallon Quincy air compressor that uses 220v and gets the job done nicely for the house. It doesn't even like D/A sanders very much, as big as it is.

I can hear our office's social butterfly going down the hall telling people that Prince died. The public reactions to deaths of celebrities never fail to confound me.

Sure, I liked Prince. Not a huge fan -- never bought an album, but I liked the famous songs well enough. But this has zero effect on my life. I don't have tickets to any future Prince concerts. I wasn't looking forward to purchasing the next Prince album. His music didn't cease to exist when he died; it's still just as available as it was yesterday.

[Random sampling from Twitter]

bowie and prince 2016 the year music died

Oh no. I just heard about Prince. Oh no.

Wow.. This one hurts.. Really unexpected. #ripPrince

According to TMZ, Prince has passed away. David Bowie, Glenn Frey, and now him...unreal.

2016 you are the f**king worst.

If true, dang. Bowie, Hag and now Prince? Music is losing some good ones this year

2016 off to a horrible start. So many creative geniuses and artistic icons gone far too soon.

Beyond depressing. Musical genius. Brilliant performer. His Super Bowl halftime show was unrivaled. Terrible loss.
"Beyond depressing"? Seriously? Hearing the news that one famous musician has died puts you into a state that is beyond depression? If that's the case, you need to get help, and soon.

your post alone hurts me

I work on a large factory floor and everyone carries radios, that shit has been broadcast a few times the last hour. uuhghgg

mgeoffriau 04-21-2016 04:56 PM

I should point out that my sampling of Twitter reactions could have been much, much worse. I didn't go looking for the biggest overreactions by random eggs, or scan the accounts of the most vapid and shallow celebrity-obsessed dummies. This was straight out of my own Twitter feed -- people that I (otherwise) find generally interesting. Writers, reporters, comedians, public figures...people that share enough interesting content that I like to see what they are sharing on a daily basis.

And it's these people that find today's celebrity death "beyond depressing."

I'm also beginning to feel a bit depressed, but for different reasons.

Girz0r 04-21-2016 05:00 PM

I'm depressed that you use twitter.
