Not bad.
Why do I feel like an STI 6MT swap would be a pain in the ***, but an H6 swap would be worthwhile? I'd do EG33 to keep it simple, run it with a series 1 AEM EMS because that's what I know. Copy all the settings over from the other even fire 6 cylinder I know of.

I had an '04 STi. I hated shifting all the time. I much more enjoy the wider ratios of the 5MT. Is there a strong 6speed/STi trans with wider ratios?
Don't you also have to swap the rear end..and the axles...and the hubs...and rotors, wheels...seems like too much a pain in the ***. Unless you can continue to use the car's original axles.

well I'm not saying I'm giving in to the Forester peer pressure, buuuut I'm not going with the WRX for now at least. The only ones in my area are the 06 I test drove yesterday and a few 02-05 sedans and wagons with more miles than I could justify trading down to.
The 06 was a disappointment. Fun as hell to drive, but too many issues that the dealer claimed he didnt know about. They bought it at auction and I think I was the first person to test drive it..including employees at the dealership...
<snip>
I think mostly I just didnt like how they either honestly knew nothing about the history of the car, or chose to act like that was the case. It just seemed like if there were that many things that were that quickly noticeable and not addressed, how many other issues are hiding that I didn't notice.

I really REALLY enjoyed the car, but I didn't leave with a WRX that day.

I think if i ever did a swap on my forester (or an impreza/forester in general) it would be a h6 over any of the turbo swaps. I know the power isn't huge, but the torque wave is phenomenal for a street car and it would make a pretty quick daily. Plus.. that sound

I now have one of these as a daily:
Basicaly a wrx that looks better and doesn't steer like a bus nor does it rattle itself to death. Cobb rear bar, STI guage cluster, TSX DP/Midpipe, some totaly awesome muffler that Nasioc people drool over and a TXS tune.
It goes good in the snow and I can fit stuff in it.

I saw a saabaru at another lot a while ago but didn't drive it cuz it was automatic, and I had just driven an 02 auto wrx wagon and was...underwhelmed..so figured no point in driving basically the same car again. I might browse my area for a 9-2x now that I am out of wrx options at the moment
